Good friends Edge and Christian

Is anybody else still angry how they suddenly said around 2009 that Edge and Christian weren't brothers?

I get it, they aren't, and their reasoning was that they didn't want to lie to fans, but neither are the Dudley Boys. Neither are Taker or Kane but they've been flogging that angle for decades. Surely it was worse insulting long time fans who had been paying attention to your kayfabe storylines?

I just listened to the Attitude Era podcast were they discussed Christian pretending that their parents were involved in a car accident and got angry at the retcon all over again.

It was partially becuase Edge's book they were pushing came out and he flat out said they weren't brothers in it.

Same thing happened with the Horsemen. They suddenly forgot Flair was supposed to be a cousin of the Andersons.

I remember during a segment in 2001 right before the broke up and the invasion, they were talking about the Hardy's and Christian said

"unlike them (Hardy's), we're actually brothers"

The WWF Smackdown Official Strategy Guide was where I found out they weren't brothers. It was in the trivia section for Edge, he rescued another kid who fell in the ice who became his lifelong best friend Christian. Or at least that's how I remember the store. Long lost that book.

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure during Christian's heel turn during the InVasion, he faked an accident involving their Grandma Edna to lure Edge into a trap where Christian and a bunch of Alliance guys jumped him. It was a terrible angle. And I have no idea why I even remember this lol.

My favorite Edge and Christian as brothers moment is at SummerSlam 2001, after Edge won the IC title from Lance Storm when Christian was on the phone with their grandma and their grandma wanted to talk to Edge instead, lol.

Yes, that's exactly what a happened. I thought it was a great angle. It was also linked earlier in the thread as proof that they were literally brothers not friends. Also as mentioned above they both spoke to Grandma Edna on the phone Rey Summerslam though she didn't care about Christian.

The retcon was that they were just friends. It sucked.

It all makes sense as a story if you just assume that Edna was the vampire who sired Gangrel, who in turn sired both Edge and Christian. Once Edge and Christian were free of the vampiric thrall of the evil Gangrel, they were no longer brothers.
