When do we stop discussing the attitude era here?

Just a thought. At the moment I’ve been watching a lot of the attitude era on the network whilst barely watching the current product.

God it was awesome (in parts). I keep wanting to make sure threads on my thoughts on it and stuff but then I think, “this is irrelevant, this was two decades ago!”

It almost doesn’t seem right posting it in here.i have no problem with it being posted here and I love talking about it but my question is simply, when will the attitude era be moved from current? I’ll be sad when it happens but damn it was nearly two decades ago!

I think one of the mods said that so little has changed presentation wise the past couple of decades that segmenting the Attitude Era off didn't really make sense.

Even though a lot has changed (and plenty hasn't), I find it difficult to point at a particular couple months and say "that's when the era changed".

Here's a shitty metaphor: Instead of the WWE saying "Ok time for a new game", hitting the reset button and changing things; they've just been hitting New Game+ on the Attitude Era since the early 2000's.

So, when do we determine the PG era to have taken over? Wrestlemania 21 probably? Cena and Batista win the titles?

Or do we do the Corporate Era? Let's say around the time BAStar came out.

Or the NXT Era, after The Shield came over and dominated the main event title scene forever.

Or the HISTORIC Era, where the women plotlines stopped being piss breaks following the appearance of Charlotte, Becky, and Sasha?

What’s crazy is the fact that they went with the Attitude Era to deal with losing to a competitor, and all these years later they may have to go back to being edgy to deal with another competitor.

Seriously, I get that it was the hottest time ever in the industry, but it was only like... 3-4 years, tops.

They're so creatively bankrupt at this point that they've literally had the same type of main heel since 1998, just with different names and faces. I'm so burnt out on the "authority figure mad with power" thing. Vince and Bischoff were the pinnacle of "Evil boss", and it's all been downhill since.

The damnedest thing is that the logical cutoff points (Post X-7 or the name change to WWE) were both over 15 years ago, so might as well add on a few extra years on top.

Only other cut-off point would be when they went HD/PG, but they don't seem like good cuts either.

Vince as evil authority figure v Austin and others from 97 to 2001 (and I’m being generous there) was captivating tv. After that it was beyond played out other than a few times.
