Hi, FAN! I've been looking for an exact quote and no matter how much I google, I can't find it, so I'm hoping you guys can help.
It's from House (the TV show), and it's a quote from Foreman to Cameron. Don't remember which episode unfortunately, but early on (or possibly in an earlier episode), Cameron had brought up the fact that she was once married to a man suffering from an incurable disease who died soon after they got together. Later on, the characters are discussing the topic of love and loss, and Foreman ends up arguing that she knew the guy would die soon, and therefore that she wasn't making a long-term commitment. their passion may have been genuine, but it wasn't really love. He then says something along the line of "watching the other person brush their teeth every morning for 25 years like my parents did, THAT is love".
That line blew my mind and it made me realize how true it is. People act like the original passion of a relationship dying down means the love does too, but on the contrary, love is when you want to stay with that person even after the passion that comes from the novelty of being with someone new wears off and you realize you don't want to just make out and screw them, you want to share your daily life with them, you want to make them part of your life, because them being around is enough to bring you joy, because they make the boring fascinating.
So yeah, I'd really like to know exactly how he put it, and considering I only ever heard it the one time in the French dub, I'm having difficulty finding it and it's driving me mad.
