Admittedly this is kinda silly to discuss before they even have their first show but it's been at the back of my mind. If AEW truly intends to be the biggest thing in wrestling outside of WWE, a new #2 promotion then like surely they intend to eventually have things like an action figure line or a video game series of their own, right? For the action figures I assume they'll inevitably sign a deal with Jakks (unless there's reason to assume otherwise?) but which game publisher would make the AEW game struck me as the much bigger question. Who they sign with would dramatically effect what form the hypothetical game takes, from a AAA sim game, to a mid-budget arcadey brawler, to a 2D indie darling. Spike Chunsoft: Makers of Fire Pro, the latest entry of which had NJPW DLC starring Omega. THQ Nordic: Whoever's running this company is like the Eric Bishcoff of gaming, buying studios & franchises left & right. They apparently have 77 projects in varying stages of development but only released like IDK 1 or 2 actual games so far? Wouldn't put it past them to wanna fill the WCW/WWF void of the old THQ. EA: Microtransactions as far as the eye can see. But they do have the experience in big budget sports titles including UFC & boxing. Syn Sophia: The studio formerly known as AKI Corporation, the team behind all of the good N64 wrestling games. But they've changed more than just the name, they're primarily known for Style Savvy DS games these days & presumed that most of the old staff have long since departed the company. WB Games: They bought Midway, the old TNA game publisher, so there could be something there. Konami: Made that 1 lucha game in 2010. Capcom: The Saturday Night Slammasters guys+Zangief & other wrestlers in Street Fighter. They would make a game that's closer to a fighter than a proper grapple sim. Some indie dev: AEW might just simply prefer having a dedicated smaller team in true indie fashion, especially if they don't just wanna license but fund their game. The Young Bucks were at one point attached to a failed kickstarter for an indie wrestling game. A similar game that's funded by AEW may prove more successful.

An Indy dev. We're a long way from AEW being big enough to sell a game from a major production house on their name value alone, given how they've announced zero deals yet, no TV exposure, domestic and abroad, and without a good platform to sell the show to a wider audience, this will remain niche.
People are really putting the cart before the horse with this promotion. They have (a backer's) money and names, but they haven't run a show yet.

They need a TV deal first, then they can think about a video game. Casual fans aren't going to buy a game for a promotion and wrestlers they can't watch. Some diehard fans might, but not enough to make it work financially.

Correction: They also made both Rumble Roses games. Because of course they did.

Funny enough, with Capcom, that only applies with Slam Masters II, which was 90% Fighter with a grapple system. Slam Masters I was straight up wrestling with some special attacks.

Yeah things are getting pretty out of control with AEW, I am surprised people aren't demanding a board for it already. We have seen big money backers fail miserably in wrestling many times over. Not that I don't want them to succeed, it would be better for wrestling as a whole, especially in the US.

I want to see an EA Wrestling game so bad. WCW Mayhem and Backstage Assault where EA.... I am aware of those games but didn’t know they were made by EA. Yeah, they sucked... however I think with the technology they have these days, it would be a whole different story. The EA MMA game a few years ago was brilliant.

Well, they already have a one winged angel on the roster, so Square Enix.
AEW even becomes one of the worlds Sora travels to in Kingdom Hearts. The Young Bucks teach Goofy and Donald how to throw a super kick party.
