I hope he was working to the end due to wanting to and not needing to. He was a fun addition to Community, really fit the tone of the show.

Damn.... I got into Community late. Found season 1 on DVD cheap last year. Loved it and in less than a month watched every episode. Leonard was amazing on the show. GLAD to hear he lived a long life. I doubt I will make it to 70. Much less to my 90s.

Sad news. Community had a lot of great background/minor characters, and Leonard was one of the best.
Rest in peace.

been watching season 3 of Community with commentary track on and Gillian Jacobs refers to Erdman as her favourite person in the world, was nice to hear with the first thing I watched with him after his death

The rap song at the end of his reviews always got me.

I never realized he was the lead in the Twilight Zone episode about the guy with the stopwatch who could pause time (of course, that doesn't end well). Amazing to hear of the rest of his career - he was in Brando's 1st movie, he showed up in a lot of film noir stuff and acted alongside folks like Bette Davis, Claude Rains and Martin & Lewis.
Dan Harmon had a very lengthy tribute on Instagram yesterday (some nice video posts from Ken Jeong too), where he was quite amazed that Erdman never realized the love people had for his character - Harmon's reaction at first was "oh come on of course you are," but then realized, as their relationship had worked over the years, that Harmon knew he had no reason to lie, he really didn't realize it before, and that ultimately Harmon was very happy to see Erdman's career was basically ending with that kind of love finally shown to him.
RIP sir.

I love Community and remembered watching Stalag 17 year prior and thought that his character was really cool in the film. It was years after Community was off the air that I found out the cool guy from Stalag 17 was Leonard.
