Oh seem like Bret miscued the pinfall, Yoko went on the shoulders with his butt way up high on purpose so Bret could lock him in but Bret didn't sync. What a smart monster he was.

In fairness though, the other option would be for Yoko to submit to Bret's sharpshooter. Though I wonder if Bret could've physically gotten the move onto Yoko with those large drumsticks of his. (Now that I think about it, I don't think Yokozuna ever lost a match by submission. He himself never 'tapped out' if you will.) That's because Fuji threw the salt in his face

I love WM X but good god, have I hated this finish since I was a kid. What a lame ass way for Bret to reclaim his championship. It's kind of remarkable to see how often Vince put the belt on Bret, only to book him pretty weak as champion; it's one thing to book him as an underdog, as given his size against guys like Yoko, Diesel, and Taker that made sense, but it's another to have a bunch of his wins come off as flukes in that process. Why is it when I made a thread detailing about how Bret was vastly booked pretty weak after his first title run, nobody listened?

That salt throw was brutal.

Yokozuna, don't blame Canada, blame yourself. Reading that card makes me feel like whoever wrote it was hammered.

In fairness to Bret, I'm sure he was more worried about getting well clear of Yoko coming down, especially since he couldn't keep an eye on Yoko's position as he was rolling to the side.

Oh my God, I can't believe I've never really thought about Bret vs. Tanahashi. Those two would make art. It would be a better version of Bret/Perfect from KOR '93. It'd be really good, but a big part of why that match is awesome is because Bret and Hennig had believable history they could draw from. I'm sure Bret would have definitely found the right angle to approach the match form, but it'd be hard to have one that'd work for face/face in the same way. (unless I am thinking of the wrong match, which come to think of it, I might be.)

Yoko from 93/94 was even more strongly booked than Brock Lesnar, so any win against him was a win.

Bret more or less confirmed that in his book. He said he had to quickly move out of the way or risk actually getting killed by Yoko if wasn't quick enough.
