youtu.be/SUmYbWrUI-wI mean it's not. It's actually an officially produced wwe video of stone cold highlights but all I could think as it went on was.. The commentary was so good. This is what the product is missing. That genuine emotion and entertaining commentary. Personal favorite is stone cold driving a zamboni to the ring and Lawler screaming to the police "get your guns out!"

They certainly were an incredible pair at a point, although I kind of hesitate to lavish too much praise on them since from about 2002 or so they were just kind of awful.

JR was always pretty solid for lending authenticity when he was on point. He sold disgust at a heel so well without it coming across quite as corny as Gorilla could at times, and certainly better than Cole often does.

Lawler himself wasn't the same since he returned from quitting after the Miss Kitty thing. As years went on he got worst. JR same thing, just declined and sounded more and more not caring about what he is calling. I guess after years of making a fool out of him pretty much every time they go to OK, and mistreatment finally got to him. It's really becoming a lost art in finding good Play by play and color guys. Just showed how valuable guys like Heenan, Ventra, and hell Heyman was great in 01 at it. You look at wrestling today, it's hard to find good talent for it.

He sold the idea that he was truly the worst human on the planet.

The return of the NWO was their final great moment when JR was bewildered at how King could be so trusting and forgiving.
King - "Well JR.....Hulk said.....god bless America"

He sold the idea that he was truly the worst human on the planet. Definitely. I also think he tended to strike the right balance if a segment was failing, like, it usually came across like he was calling a fight that got "bowling shoe ugly", rather than blowing the suspension of disbelief to throw everyone under the bus like some commentators will. Probably the worse he ever did was the infamous, "mercifully, it's over" about the Jackie Gayda match, but that was obviously a pretty extreme circumstance.
