Finale: The Final Jim Henson Hour The use of the memorial celebration interspersed with recapping the final 12-18 months of Henson's life ( and the Disney hulabaloo that made those days more stressful than they should've been, both for him and the business involved) was remarkably done. Kudos to Mr. Perjurer for pulling that off so well. It's a grievous video, but somehow the footage of his death memorial makes it more hopeful and inspirational. Wow. Somehow even Henson managed to make a video of his final days 30 years later go well.

Also I cant help but think a Henson helmed amusement park attraction would have been amazing.
(I mean muppets 3d existed but I mean a full ride )

With an under construction thing with the muppets mocking the old attraction

Ah, I vaguely recall the Muppets were tied into the Superstar Limo thing somehow (the 1st Defunctland video I ever saw, IIRC) ...although for some reason I thought they were supposed to be the attraction that Superstar Limo suddenly replaced. Huh.

Huh. Superstar limo was always the idea. Originally it was supposed to be a fast paced indoor rollercoaster thing through the streets of LA chased by paparazzi... but then Princess Diana died from trying to outrun Paparazzi so they binned the idea and made it the boring slow crawl instead.

That was it. The thing seemed like Muppets sort of weirdness but with them trying not to do that humor and aiming for.....something else. Yikes, how the heck did I forget the Princess Di "origins" that tarnished the final product.

Any time I'm trying to bring on real tears, say for some kind of a performance or whatever, the first thing I'll turn my mind to is the Jim Henson memorial service, particularly watching how Frank Oz did all he could to keep himself together the whole time, and how the other muppet performers did their best to cheer him up through the grief they were all feeling. So much of the rest of it hits just as hard, but yeah, the connection Jim had with his team being so evident in those moments just tears me apart.
