Well damn, I was actually looking forward to this. Still gonna watch it, but this is definitely a little deflating to the enthusiasm

I actually have tickets for this tonight. I'm debating if I'm going to refund them and see something else instead.

All the byte sized reviews on tomatoes read like Del Toro fanboy critics whining he didn't get to do the third film.
I'm still going to see it as quite honestly although Perlman himself was good I don't rate Hellboy 2 very much and Hellboy 1 is just alright behind the nice creature effects.

I haven't seen the first two and my only real exposure to the character is Injustice.
That said... This movie looks like someone decided to make a knockoff of Suicide Squad on a budget of $8.

I love the character, I love the cast, I love the director. That the reviews are so bad for this is disenheartening, but I’m still definitely seeing it this weekend.

Damn, I was actually planning on trying to catch this this weekend. Now I'm not sure if I'll bother or just wait for the DVD from Netflix.

I've NEVER been happy about paying to see a movie in a theater that was a sub 20% movie on RT. That's The Last Airbender, Dragonball Evolution and Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li territory.

I'm assuming that if the title of the fim was Hellgirl then all the bad reviews would have been by white, male trolls or something like that.

Just back from seeing the movie myself, I can indeed confirm that Hellboy is utter rubbish.
The editing is absolutely atrocious. It's like the movie is played at 2x speed on YouTube or something.
Conversations take place between characters and there's no room to breathe, no pauses to digest what has just been said. Every time the plot moves to a different location, it's like I've got whiplash from how quick we get from point A to point B as the characters narrate why they're going there.
Some of the lines are said with the actors not even facing the camera, so they must have been blatantly added in post-production. The humour feels like they were just being crude for the sake of it being cool or to appeal to teenagers. One of the villains drops the 'F' word so many times that it loses all meaning.
Every shot feels like it can only last two seconds before they move onto the next one. Some of the CGI didn't even look finished particularly in the 'one-shot' scene.
David Harbour does the best with what he can do, Ian McShane was entertaining, but everyone else is just 'meh' in terms of performances. I was honestly bored at one point and that's not something I should be feeling about a Hellboy movie.
Very disappointing, the highlight of my night was seeing the Avengers trailer on the big screen.

That doesn't work here mate. the debuting score of 9 and current 12% is from Critics not fans. and Captain Marvel clearly was review bombed by trolls originally, not saying all of them were or that people gotta like it but... literally a bunch of the comments were Beep boop I'm an automated response or something to that effect.

Unfortunate. I love David Harbour, and initially, I was optimistic, but the trailer left me cold, and this just leaves me disappointed to hear. Not surprised, just, disappointed.
