Surprise surprise, your company is a shithole to work for, other options start looking better, people want out to actually enjoy what career they may have left so they aren't stuck in permanent limbo or held down even longer, and you turn into petty shitheads because you can't have the whole pie. This company sucks, it really does. You have endless amounts of talent constantly coming in, a dude wants out and wants to do the thing he loves, and you do this to him, KNOWING you have ZERO plan on ever using him in any capacity, not just anyone either, a beloved family man and someone I have never heard anyone say a bad word about in the locker room I really hope John Oliver says more about how shit this company is, more voices and eyes need to be on this shitty behavior, and it can't come soon enough. Don’t blindly sign a contact if you may not want to honor it in the future. Did Brodie Lee sign a contract 6-7 years ago expecting, in his worst nightmares, that after being called up and part of a huge program where he'd be part of a huge attraction to the company, he'd be at a point where writers would be asking if he was still hurt when he was ready to go, and he couldn't even get on television if he crawled on his knees and begged for it? Most wrestlers are aware that there is a peak and that there is a chance they will be shunted down the card, but they didn't envision today's WWE where you can go months without making an appearance on programming like Sanity had (and they simply got on TV just to get slaughtered by the Miz), or worse, be put in a spot where you are trapped in a no-win situation, as we have recently seen with EC3 (debuted as a mute, had his first win completely overshadowed, and recently got BURIED by Braun for just no freaking reason). You simply assume that a wrestler doesn't want to honor a contract simply because they're not getting their way. "Oh, they're being divas! They should suck it up, buttercups!" Part of that may be true, but again; you look at this guy and see just how badly he's been positioned as a performer, where it eats away at your confidence as not just a performer, but also as a human being. If you're working a job where your superiors think of you as a nobody and a nothing, you eventually start thinking you are a nobody and that you're nothing. Again, you'll probably say, "He's a pussy, then!", but psychology is complicated, and if your job sucks, but you can't quit, it will affect you on an emotional level. The guy simply just wanted to leave, and in an ideal environment, it would've been win/win; he would get his freedom, and WWE would free themselves up both some cash that they would otherwise be wasting on talent they would not bother use and a roster spot. Instead, it's... lose/win? Harper's stuck doing f***-all, while WWE gets to, I dunno, prove a point, I guess?

Now, I’m no fancy big shot wrestling CEO, but I’d like to think that if I wanted one of my talents to speak with an accent when they’re being a specific character (which isn’t really an unreasonable request if it helps flesh out the character) and they were having difficulties with it, I would use a small portion of my vast wrestling fortune to recruit maybe an acting coach or a dialect coach. You know, help the person out, like.
Or I could give up after one promo segment then hold it against the talent for the rest of their career, I dunno. I mean, f***, man. That’s PROPER grim.

I know the whole "this company will be so much better when HHH takes over" narrative is largely wishful thinking, but if nothing else I'm pretty positive HHH isn't gonna' be prone to bizarre, petty shit like holding a grudge over a bad Southern accent from a promo from four years ago.

I hope like hell that report is missing some context or details or something, because otherwise WWE is literally in the hands of a complete lunatic.
...I know that's not exactly news to many people, but still, it's scary as hell.

I guess we'll see, but these reports never seem to be written that clearly so who knows what the real story is.
Vince simultaneously doesn't get the guy, won't release him, wants to see him in action, doesn't want to use him, wants to know why he's not being used, wants to put him in a program, doesn't want him on either brand.
I mean if anyone could ever be that inconsistent, it's Vince McMahon, but surely something is missing.

The Southern accent story has been told before; he believed for no particular reason that all the Wyatt family would have some breed of southern accent and never really shared this information with anyone. So Harper goes out to cut a promo right before winning the IC title where he spoke normally, and got chewed out after he went back, because Vince expected he'd speak in a Southern accent. Aside from the fact Harper is from Rochester, he also had spoken before during his time in the Wyatt family and never put on an accent then, either. His run lasted less than a month and his solo push petered off hard after that.
This whole mess sounds ridiculous but it sounds precisely like what you would expect out of Vince.

That fits (albeit with a lot more craziness and incompetence) what I figured had happened. Harper was in a good position before his injury, and could have had no real complaints about how he was being used. But it's just since he came back, and some idiots told him he wasn't needed for anything, that he wants his release. Regarding the battle royal, that's even more reason to just stop doing them. They're crap to watch, they're a waste of time and energy, people get hurt and apparently forgetting some of your dumb schmozz spots can get you in the dog house.

The #1 biggest problem with Vince is that, ultimately, he only listens to himself. The #1 reason why Trips will be better is that we're pretty positive that he won't ONLY listen to himself. He'll at least digest the thoughts from other higher ups. It's not just that "it's a bad Southern accent", the problem is that Vince just flat out doesn't like Luke Harper. And no one wanted to speak up about it, mostly out of fear, and mostly because Vince would turn a total deaf ear to the complaint. (For the record, I think HHH didn't speak up because he knows how to pick and choose his battles at this point. It's unfortunate, but it would be too much of a risk for Trips to stick his neck out for Luke Harper.)

Vince by all signs shouldn't be trusted to live in a house without constant supervision, much less run a billion dollar company. I really consider the man to be a complete embarrassment to the entire industry at this point.

This company is being run by a complete psychopath. Or a complete moron. Or maybe both.
Vince McMahon is shit. WWE is shit.

I'm normally not the one to shit on Vince (though I'll point out the reasons why everybody else will), but the whole "Southern Accent" thing is a bridge too far for even me.
Let it go, man.

If you’re unimpressed with someone that is usually when you LET THEM GO. Instead, Vince added 6 months to his contract with no intention of using him for anything.

Stories like this, with Vince at the age that he’s at, that make me wish someone his elder and superior would chew him the f*** out and humble him. Maybe Momma Vince?

What’s with this weird southern accent thing? Is it cause Bray Wyatt’s supposed to be from New Orleans so anybody from the Wyatt Family cult is supposed to have it for the rest of their career?
