Yeah. Really.Really puts the RAW/Smackdown rating threads in a new light, huh? This was their Rey de Reyes match from last month, so it wasn't even live. Normal AAA shows are doing "only" around 4 mil, so looks like this was a big deal over there too.

The Lucha Bros are the draw in Mexico, not the Young Bucks. AAA's numbers have been going up even before the YB's came in so I wouldn't give them credit.

Given the million viewer spike, I am not sure why they wouldn't get any credit. No one's disputing that the Lucha Bros as huge stars, they really obviously are, but the Young Bucks aren't exactly chopped liver, either.

There's always a lead in the dance, but it takes two - or four - to tango. And if you get put in there with the hottest act around, and it just makes them an even hotter act, that has to say something.

Dorian Roldán: the ratings went through the roof, here’s a bonus.
Matt: it’s only a dollar
DR: We’re honest people.

A lot of people in Mexico didn't know who the Young Bucks were. The Luchas are the "lead in the dance". AAA are on a widely available channel, which easily attracts non wrestling fans. AAA's numbers have been shooting upwards since Fenix won the title in August.

I saw the thread title and wondered how long it would take for someone to try and downplay the drawing ability of the Bucks.
It was literally the the first post after the OP. Incredible.

But its not the Bucks, as someone who is a regular followers of AAA and CMLL. AAA's numbers have been going up since Fenix won the title. Fact. When the Bucks debuted nobody had a clue who they were so they had to turn heel. You implied The Bucks aka "The hottest act around" were behind it. They're not that hot in Mexico compared to Penta/Fenix.

And an additional million watched because of them, who watched for the Bucks. Why are you so into not giving them credit? The Young Bucks are a worldwide draw. Japan, America, Mexico. Just accept it.

Tall Poppy Syndrome. Some people can't accept the fact that others achieved success and resent them because of it. Its the same with Cody.

To be fair, it was the main event of the AAA's Summerslam/Royal Rumble equivalent, their annual 2nd biggest show of the year, so I'd expect the bump was at least somewhat independent of who was actually wrestling.
Still, the fact that the Bucks just had a televised match that got viewing #s WWE hasn't come close to in years is a pretty huge feather in their cap, regardless of circumstances.

They're not that hot in Mexico compared to Penta/Fenix. Nobody is saying that the Bucks are bigger draws than Penta and Fenix in Mexico. But if it is true that AAA has been averaging around 4 million viewers, and this main event drew over a million more viewers than normal, then part of that growth has to be credited to the Bucks. Yes, credit has to go to Penta and Fenix as well, but as Madison said it takes two to tango.

Congratulations to all four guys. Me, I’m just happy to see pro wrestling drawing well and bringing in fresh fans.

Congratulations to all four guys. Me, I’m just happy to see pro wrestling drawing well and bringing in fresh fans. Hell yeah. If you're a fan of AAA, or wrestling in general, it shouldn't matter who drew the house/rating/whatever. A ton of people were watching, and that's what's important.

I think these comments about the Young Bucks are probably due to what was reported on Luchaworld after the show. Scroll down to the last two paragraphs in the Show Thoughts section under the Rey de Reys 2019 review. www.luchaworld.com/?p=88623
