Does anyone still use instant massaging software like AIM, ICQ or Yahoo! Messenger? I think all of those closed... so... no >_> though Discord and Facebook messenger are things... I think Yahoo Messenger still exists, AOL is no longer in existence, but as you said with Discord and Facebook Messenger, the concept still exists, it is just under different sites.

Yeh Yahoo messenger was always outdated compared to their competitors, every time. Never tired AIM,but I still remember the time that Website Signups asked for your ICQ number. The ICQ messenger noise is still nostalgic for me.

Also ,kinda relevant but in Japan LINE is a message software the is REALLY big and in the west we have WhatsApp.
Both are sorta more phone services but LINE I dont think you need a phone number.

Text joke books. I mean, not joke books with text on them. Texting from cell phones text. Like, when the Nokia became the cell phone here, it seemed that book stores would have a ton of joke books containing jokes that you can send on your cell phone. There were even stuff like instructions on how to make a custom ring tone so that would sound like some ring tone version of a popular song.

Yahoo Messenger had the awful user created chats for the longest time. Straight up illegal stuff there with no moderation whatsoever.

Phone booths. You still see them, obviously, but it's a fraction of the number there were before everybody got a mobile phone. They've been replaced by the WIFI ones essentially at least in New York
They got stations outside where you can make phone calls and charge your phone

Jokes about not being able to use a computer, usually to imply that a person is cool and not a "nerd". Also, "nerd" used as an insult.

Pay phones, rotary phones, calling cards and pagers all come to mind.
I got my first pager in 1998. I soon realised they were pointless as nobody really sent me any messages.

Jokes about not being able to use a computer, usually to imply that a person is cool and not a "nerd". That was actually done in the third episode of Cobra Kai, season 2. I think MySpace is still around. Though, that seemed like more of a deconstruction, that the one without the computer is kind of a jackass who is behind the times.

Typewriters. My grandfather used to make a killing repairing typewriters. Then computers came along, and there went that.

We have a set of old Auto Bingo cards from when the kids were little. Two of the cards have "a mailbox" on them. When was the last time you saw a big metal box to put letters into?
The other day, someone asked me to fax something to them. I asked if I could scan and email them and they said they would prefer a fax. Where the hell am I supposed to find a fax machine?
