I don’t need any shoes for a while so I don’t know why I even went looking......
I haven’t bought a new pair of shoes myself (not counting white tennis shoes for work which I could get for $10 at walmart) for I don’t even know how long. Usually get them for Xmas. But I’m blown away then even in malls that are mostly on life support that I’m seeing shoes there for $150 and up. Like that’s insane I think like $60 is the most I’ve ever paid for shoes and that was before I was an adult on my own.

Before insurance, my shoes are 600+ dollars.
Sure, one of them has to have a bunch of fancy shit done to it to make it custom for my foot but still.....

I usually do well at Shoe Carnival or DSW.
I haven't used Zappos yet but they seem to have good deals too.

DSW is my go to. I always seem to get the shoes I want for no more than $70.

I am on my feet a lot,so I don't mind paying a high price for shoe if they last. Got a pair of boots I paid 80 for 21 years ago that are still in great shape. And got some 40 buck hightops almost the same age that are almost falling apart.

All things considered you can go to an Outlet Mall,Ross,Marshalls,DSW etc and find great deals . Unless you got a fancy blue collar job and you need some Dapper dress shoes,or are Sneakerhead Nike Collector paying far under 100$ should be no problem. Regular Malls clothing of any kind will always have a markup price(exemptions possibly for Old Navy or Fast Fashion places like H&M) because those stores pay preium real estate

That's easy. Because they're cobbled by magical elves who can only work over nights & they can only make them by hand.

It's an unpopular place to go for some, but I tend to buy my stock at Walmart largely because I have to compromise my ethics to save money. The quality is a bit of a crapshoot (like, stay the hell away from Avia shoes; they disintegrate the moment you put them on), but you can get some And-1s for a fair price.

Reminds me of that Flight of the Conchords line, "why are we still paying so much for sneakers when you got little slave kids making them, what are your overheads...?".
Anyway, when I was a kid having the expensive Nikes was a status symbol. Now that I'm footing the bill, yeah those cheapass K-Mart sneakers will do me just fine. Or maybe that 70% off clearanced department store pair.

I pretty much only ever buy shoes in sales. I don't give a shit whether they're the 'in' style or anything, so the ones I pick can usually be had for half-price or less.
The only pair I paid more than £60 for are some Clarks boots, which I got at an outlet centre for 20% off. They've lasted three years so far, and look to last for a good while longer.

I have to buy a decent pair of shoes for work because I do so much walking per day and even then within a year I have to replace them. Can’t buy a cheap £20 pair anymore because they will be useless within 3 months or so. Hate paying money for shoes but needs must.

After wearing struggle shoes for over 20 years, I don't act up about the price of shoes. Granted, I live in a city with lover price points. I take advate of sales at my local Nike outlet and regional department store, Meijer.

I used to just buy cheapish shoes. But earlier this year got a £200+ pair of Timberland boots and they are the confiest things I've ever wore.
Only downside, they get dirty in the rain so I splashed out on an expensive pair of Doc Martens fir wet weather. Again, so confortable.
I've found though that branded sports shoes aren't much different in quality than lower cost shoes. My pair of £80 Nikes and Adidas barely lasted as long as a cheap pair of Slazengers.

For work I buy Klogs, I actually got the last pair for $40, but usually they run $65. I can get kitchen clogs at Walmart for $25, but they only last 3 months while the Klogs will last at least a year and a half.
As far as tennis shoes, always have good luck with Adidas. I like the more basic styles and I would usually just buy them at Kohl's for $60, but their selection sucks now. So I just buy them online directly from Adidas. You can pick whatever color and they actually have my size in stock. Although I spent $80 this time, because I really liked the style of the shoe.
Either way, I just buy shoes online. The prices are better and the selection is much better.

Because they're something everyone needs so they know they can uncharge for them.
