Who do you like more or maybe to rephrase it for some who is/was more tolerable?

Hard to compare the two. One is a commentator (who used to do a bit of interviewing stuff) the other was just a backstage interviewer/presenter.
Pettengill was good at what he did and IMO so is Cole.

Todd Pettengill could sell a match, feud, or card in a way that made you want to see it - sometimes with humour, but always with a positive and cheerful tone. I think he could have done well at an announce table calling a match if given a chance and a good grounding in the wrestling-move glossary.
Michael Cole is essentially Vince's mouthpiece. There is no real enthusiasm, no authentic emotion behind what he's saying. He's giving the hard sell but can't seem to convey convincingly why we should care about what's going on.

Todd, because he at least sounded enthusiastic about the job. Cole is just a robot, devoid of all human emotion.

I stopped watching wrestling in 96 and didn't get back into it until 2000. When I first tuned back in I thought Michael Cole and Todd Pettengill were the same person.

Todd. He had adorkable charm before adorkable charm was seen as a good thing. And adolescent me thought he was kinda cute.
Cole, dude's on auto-pilot and I can't blame him. He's horrible, but so is 99% of WWE and both are the fault of one man.

Todd had a very, very brief run doing commentary with JR on one of the USA network shows. It was not pretty.

Before WWE dies, I need to see Todd Pettengill return and cut a promo on Cole.

This is so irrelevant to the discussion, but Todd's pronunciation of "WWF" was weird as hell.
He pronounced it like someone just pressed fast-forward on his voice but, no, it was real time.

Pettengill could be really annoying at times, but at least he looked like he had genuine enthusiasm for the job. Cole has always had such a fakeness about him to the point that he has never had an ounce of credibility.
Plus, that song that Todd performed at the Slammys was incredible.

Cole. Todd just rubs me the wrong way, though that's more his radio career than WWF stint.

Todd could be annoying but he was just a million times better. But I guess they did different jobs eventually Todd wasn’t a colour commentator and I don’t think he ever did call a match did he?
