I collect superhero figures, though I am far from a hardcore collector. 1/12 figures, so, in the 6 inch range typically, are what I tend to gravitate towards. I also lean more DC than Marvel, though I dig both.
Anyway, only reason I ask is, McFarlane Toys are going to be taking over the DC figures made for adult collectors in mind, with Mattel keeping the license for DC Super Hero Girls, and Spin Masters getting the kid toys. A few years ago, I'd have a very bleak opinion of this, but honestly, McFarlane Toys have got their act together, with their Fortnite figures getting a lot of acclaim, and them stating a commitment to no longer having shit articulation. Great news, naturally.
So, with them putting out their own DC figures in 2020, we're probably going to be seeing them tackle some of the big ones, such as the "trinity" of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, but I wonder. Do you think it'd be better if they follow this up with other popular characters who have had a lot of action figure love, such as Batgirl or Flash characters, or are you hoping for some deeper cuts, characters who have either never had a figure, or haven't for quite some time? Kind of like how Mattel finally made a Spoiler figure, despite Stephanie Brown being around since 1992, for example, or how Hasbro's been putting out a lot of weirdos in the Legends line like Rock Python, Deathlok, etc.
I think a mix would be ideal, and I am sure they'll probably end up doing TV characters like Batwoman, hopefully, but I'm curious what you folks would think is best.

Marvel does it best, typically a line of 7 with 3 "main" characters and 4 lesser knowns.

I generally prefer Hasbro style of mixing big name characters with lesser known ones.
The first year waves probably won't have many if any lesser known characters. Bulletman would be fun, but not likely.
Can't wait though for another Rebirth Batman. At least Superman will be in classic costume.

Maybe now that they've made a squirrel mold that can ride another figure's back, from the Deadpool scooter set that has Dogpool and Squirrelpool, it'll finally come. Maybe also give a classic style head and one more like the current comics, while they're at it. It just feels a bit weird to not have her, but have far less known or popular characters available. Maybe she can come out in a wave with a new classic Doctor Doom, for a fun nod to their fateful encounter.

Woah, what's this about Mcfarlane finally upping his game with articulation?! That may be a game changer for me. I've only been collecting the Mezco One:12 line but if they maintain their level of detail, I may have to look at their offerings. Will miss the cloth, though...

People were on his case for years due to his glorified statues, but the recent offerings for Fortnite, especially, and the most recent Game of Thrones figures have seen considerably better articulation, making them more comparable to something like Hasbro's, while keeping the great sculpts McFarlane's known for. We'll see if it's just talk, but Todd's been doing a few interviews saying that this will become more of the standard for the company, that they've tried to listen to feedback and give the fans what they've really wanted. Hopefully he means it.

My Star Wars collecting critiria is the characters I really like, which usually ends up being the lesser known ones. But not always. For example I don't have Leia, since I've never found one of the rarer ones I wanted. I try to keep it to one of each character. But I did buy Qi'ra and Jyn Erso, very widely available but I really liked the charactesr.
About ten years ago they were doing a great job of releasing Expanded Universe characters that were of high quality but since the Disney purchase it's gotten really bad. Which should be expected as they struck most of those characters from history. But even the quality of figures has gone to shit.
