Remember the transforming building robot in the Tom Hanks film Big? Well, the people working on Fisher-Price's Imaginext line (awesome line, btw) like to homage a lot of older toys in their designs. Wave 12 of these blind bag figures is in stores now and this is one of the included action figures:

There was a toy robot built to be a prop in the film Big, in a scene where the main character plays with it for a moment. It wasn't mass-produced or released in the real world. Cut to today, and Fisher-Price releases a line of action figures called Imaginext that often borrow designs from old obscure toys as homages. This time around, they did one in honor of the Big robot.

I think they're referencing the main character's confusion when being presented with the concept in the film. Which, f*** that kid from Big, a building robot sounds awesome.

That's pretty neat. Good way of using the same concept and general aesthetic while making it more sleek.

Could have been better executed. The original is awesome, if unrealistic for someone to actually play with. Just scale that down. I guess they wanted to make it more cheaply, and hedge their bets.

Cool line, I love the he-man references they do.

I'm surprised Transformers never made an official one of these as a convention exclusive or something.
