I noticed it. Bret often seems like such a grump old guy, so to see him so clearly enjoying MJF's heeling was great. And he probably enjoyed the whole night, seeing a bunch of talented wrestlers getting their opportunities to forge careers and build a company.

Considering what Bret was probably going through all week with the 20th anniversary of Owen's death, he really deserved a night to just enjoy some pro wrestling.

I said it in the First Impressions thread a while ago, and I'll say it here again. As an actual lapsed fan, MJF's heel promo skills are some of the best I've ever seen. No cheap heat, no corny shit. All heat. He's clever and creative. I was beyond impressed with him. Huge fan now.
Hangman Page and MJF are two talents who I see something in, and from my perspective that's saying alot because most of the talent in the last 10-12 years.. I havent seen alot that I really like.

It’s not the first time that Bret has laughed something or someone off. It’s in line with his character. That said I hope he was having a good time. He’s given fans countless hours of quality entertainment. He deserves all the happiness he can get.

It was so obvious I saw it through the window from my garden. Need to go back and watch that segment.

That line about 'look behind you Bret, a fan is jumping over the barricade to attack you!' was so priceless you gotsta know all the WWE Superstars who were watching Double or Nothing to 'check out the competition' did a belly laugh on that one.

I'm so happy MJF is finally getting more attention. The dude is it, chief. If there's anyone who has already been elevated from nobody to top prospect from the time AEW formed to right at this moment, it's definitely MJF. He's taken every second he is on any screen or stage, and gotten over like crazy, and anyone who interacts with him also gets over in the process. Other than Moxley, who is probably going to be more of a tweener, Maxwell Jacob Friedman is poised to be the top heel of AEW once there's TV time to fill.

Bret's the same guy that said he was debating about parachuting into Titan Towers with a gun as a dark joke in that one HBK/Bret documentary they had. The fact he liked that isn't a surprise to me.

Loved his bits on BTE. But seeing him do that in a live setting was amazing.
Dude is oozing scumbaggery on an unholy level.

Loved his bits on BTE. But seeing him do that in a live setting was amazing. Dude is oozing scumbaggery on an unholy level. My favorite MJF story is from AIW Gauntlet for the Gold 14 from last month. He was scheduled for a match with Shane Douglas, which he won thanks to interference from a heel turning guy. So fast forward to the Gauntlet for the Gold match itself (a rumble) and when he enters, he just eats fritos at ringside from a chair and makes sure to get some bullshit eliminations until his new friend enters. He proceeds to stand on the entrance behind his buddy and only then enters the match properly. Such good heel work.
