It really shows how limited the WWE's view of comedy is that they can't find a way to use a guy like EC3 when his wheelhouse is heavily comedic in nature. But because it's not the weird, stilted humor of the WWE and most of the time genuinely humorous stuff...they got nothing for him. I realize a lot of you know this already, but it really speaks to how flimsy of an excuse the old chestnut "X guy just doesn't work the style WWE's writing implements!" is. Because by all accounts EC3 is the ideal WWE wrestler. Charismatic, can be a larger than life character, can work a lot of different styles, big. But he wallows in the gutter. Colt Cabana said when he mentioned comedy to Vince that Vince said “Like Jackie Gleason?” Jericho said Vince told him if he wants to see comedy, he has Santino. So there ya go.

So... They did kind of play to his strengths tonight with this 24/7 thing with them all stuck in the elevator. Got to play off of Maverick a bit... It's a start, I guess.

Because Triple H is on charge of hires but Vince of how to use then. Maybe Vince barely knows who is being hired when God, then the system is even more broken than I thought; the idea that one guy can sign everyone, the other is in charge of all creative for the main roster, but that they're not communicating on which talents they're actually signing/bringing up from developmental and what their strengths are would be baffling in any other company but, hey, it's WWE. Hasn't it been like this for a long time though. I seem to remember reading Mick Foley's book and it was JR and Cornette that brought him in and then Vince had no idea how to use him. Until the sit down interview with JR I don't think Vince saw anything in Foley at all. If this was today he'd be getting jobbed out hard just like EC3.

It's part of why WWE even being around today is in many ways almost a miracle of luck; Vince could have kept choosing not to alter how he was handling things during that time, and it's possible the company might've just died, with no big push for Foley, Austin, etc.

It's a start, I guess. “I can’t be stuck in here, I’m getting married in two weeks!” “You’re getting married and you didn’t invite me?!” “YOU’RE MY BEST MAN!” I laughed, that was great.

WWE survived, and thrived, because Hogan left, HBK and Bret got hurt/left, Rock left, and Austin got hurt. Every big star only was around for a finite amount of time that had nothing to do with being phased out by WWE. It's why Cena got so stale. Austin was huge from mid 1997 to early 2003, missed a year for neck surgery and moved down the card in 2002/2003 then he was gone. No top star can have more than a four or five year run without doing something to freshen themselves up or change alignments. WWE history, Hogan was huge but not nearly as much exposure back then. He got overexposed though and left for Hollywood and eventually WCW where he was overexposed before turning heel and being hugely over again. HBK got hurt after two years on top. Bret was on top for 5 years before he left for WCW but he took breaks throughout his run. Rock was on top from like 1999 to 2002 before he went Hollywood. Today, guys are healthier and there's nowhere else to go for the same or better money so we get what Vince always wanted, main eventers and even midcard guys who NEVER go anywhere and it's the same forever. How much more can Randy Orton really do? He's great but what else is there to do? Undertaker stayed fresh over the years but if you don't then you turn into Local Men Kane and Big Show.
