probably my favorite pick this season for a song/artist I never heard prior.
as for what's next? I wish Pegasus was still active here. So down to play another season of World Series of Pop Culture.

While there were definitely better songs overall, my personal favorite pick was King Kunta. I never expected anyone to pick that song in this competition. I thought I'd have to do it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this season. It was great to have it back after all that time off and I had a blast judging.
While I know there there needs to be some time to digest this season, I do hope the time between seasons is shorter this time around.

Hoping it's sooner than later. Right now, I don't see myself hosting another one in the foreseeable future. Just won't have the time for it. Still, plenty of smart people who can host. And while others can think about how to run it, Jazzman's format worked out excellently.

If I host I don't think I'll do a strictly metal one like I initially planned simply because I don't think there's enough interest. Maybe that opinion is based more off the general lack of metal after however many seasons compared to other genres, but it's enough to make me pause.
However, the Mortal Kombat-inspired idea I had in mind may stick around.

I reckon a video game themed one could be nice, but yeah that theme could really limit the number of contestants.

I knew I had voted for Jazzman!
I felt it in my jellies.
And i'm up for a video game themed one even if it is a short-run spin off one.Just do distract until the next big one.

This was incredibly fun!
Remember that time I won my first time playing? I don't think I could ever follow that up.
The final round was everything about my favorite music and genres... was pretty amazing. So great that Dillion Francis & Alison Wonderland helped me win.

If we are still down to the idea I wouldn't mind hosting.I listen to a lot of Video Game Composing channels and design. So I think I could handle it.

If you do, try to find interested players in the various video game threads, as well as possible judges. Then brainstorm different categories.

I'll participate in a video game music one. Something to do as I wait for the next tournament.

I don't understand the want or need for genre specific Idols, if music is good it's good regardless. If you wanted specific genre rounds that's fine, but to go completely single genre is against the spirit of the game imo.

Just a media subset where we can have nerdy fan and do themwa that would never appear on fan idol. also probably really short. 8 costants probably

The thing about doing single genre games is that the host and judges have to really know their stuff. You need to have diverse rounds that address the genre. You can sort of use standard Idol rounds, such as decade specific ones or the international round, but you'll have to come up with several rounds unique to the genre. Also, if you stay with the one arist, one song rule, you'll go through artists quickly.
Not saying it can't be done, just that it would be substantially harder.
