It seems like a good rule of thumb is that anything that promotes itself as a flat out comedy podcast is terrible.
So lately I’ve been listening to a lot of true crime podcasts. They’re good but the subject matter is just so dark. Between that and having a propensity for obscure horror movies my entertainment consumption can get pretty bleak.
So I’d love to find some lighter listening.
I used to listen to Something to Wrestle With. However, the episodes are just too damn long. I definitely prefer podcasts that are an hour or less. I still enjoy Bruce and Conrad, but I don’t want to listen to anyone yammer on for 4 or 5 hours.

Yeah, I’m the same way with true crime podcast. I just heard the story of Amy Lynn Bradley and was overwhelmed for a bit. And it’s nice to have a palette cleanser. For comedy I listen to How Did This Get Made, How Did This Get Played, Doughboys, and Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend.
How Did This Get Played (a gaming version of HDTGM) just started. But those other three have a pretty good backlog of episodes.

The Lapsed Fan. But if you're looking for podcasts an hour or less then this show wont be for you. Those guys go long, deep and hard...so very hard!

I'd recommend Last Podcast On The Left.
While they regularly delve into true crime, they cover plenty of other topics mad regardless of the subject matter it often devolves into ridiculous black humour and skits. Most episodes tend to run between 70-100 minutes. When they get to a topic that requires more time they'll do multiple episodes rather than try and cover it all in one big one.
I'd recommend starting off with the 2-parter on the Donner Party. Those were the first episodes I listened to and I've been listening weekly and working my way through their back catalogue since.

A tie between Hello from the Magic Tavern (comedy/fantasy) and Hey Riddle Riddle (comedy/puzzle).

I don't listen to a ton of podcasts and almost all of them are related to wrestling. Therefore, I have to go with the Edge and Christian podcast. I think that if I listened to others, I'd still enjoy and laugh at E and C, though. I really enjoy how much fun they have with it. I truly feel like I'm listening to two lifelong best friends just chatting.

Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend is stellar. His ability to improvise always brings out the best in his guests, and it's a much better format for interviewing people than the talk show.
My Dad Wrote a Porno is honestly one of the funniest things I have ever come across. If anyone isn't familiar with it, it's a guy called Jamie and two of his friends, reading the erotic novel that his dad wrote. The novel is terrible, in every way - characters, plot, prose, and some of the most absurd situations and unlikely (often anatomically impossible) sex scenes you'll ever see or hear.
For something a bit older, The Thrilling Adventure Hour was always really funny too.

I guess by default Welcome to Night Vale since it's the only one I listen to... and I only actually started on it like a week ago. Though it really is pretty funny.

The funniest podcast I ever heard was called Analyze Phish starring a comedian who hates the music of phish and a comedian who loves Phish trying to get the former to enjoy them by playing different samples and excerpts.
There's only 10 or so episodes due to one of the hosts passing on, but it had such a consistent, awesome streak. Definitely worth seeking out.
(language warning)
Forgot how funny this was, their chemistry was so good:

But Ben is absolutely hilarious and more than carries the show so it works for me. I sometimes randomly think of the shit he says and just crack up.

That's interesting...I've listened to the show, I've gotten a laugh here and there, but I've never really seen the show as a comedy show. Fantasy Fiction use to be my shit...it also made me sleepy. I'm a big fan of the Flophouse, Good Bad Movie, Bad Bad movie for similar reasons. I really like the movie review podcast Medium Polpcorn.(don't sing the theme in public)

I really love Bunny Ears Podcast. It's McCaulay Culkin's show, and it's basically an audio version of Pee-Wee's Playhouse for adults. Its great.

Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal podcast with Gilbert and Frank Santopadre (who is a comedy writer.) Great interviews and Gilbert and Frank interact amazingly.

Stand By Your Band - a different comedian comes on to defend a band they love that people tend to hate on.
