The boxer, who lost his first fight after his trainer threw in the towel in hopes of saving him, sadly did not survive his brain swelling issues. Damn, I wish he would have made it.

Heartbreaking. Especially tragic given that this one wasn't as easily preventable as other cases.
Until the point the fight was stopped there was no point at which it was clear it needed to be. In hindsight maybe the rate at which his performance declined after the first few rounds may have been a red flag, that he went from outboxing him so clearly to getting absolutely blasted over and over in seemingly the blink of an eye.
He was only 28, and he had a wife and kids.

Such tragic news. I was watching the clip the other day of his trainer telling him that he was stopping the fight. It looked to be one of those situations where the trainer put the person before the boxer and would save his life. Sadly, it was in vain. RIP

RIP If you’re a fighter, you want someone like Buddy Mcgurt in your corner. He’s made many world champions and has shown here he cares deeply for his fighters as people.
