Just trying to think of good examples of guys or gals who wrestled styles with a minimal amount of bumping by choice, whether as upright or mat wrestling styles or what have you, and were/are considered good wrestlers versus someone like Khali who took a minimal amount of bumps out of necessity.
Came out of a conversation about Hogan and Austin's long term health if either of them had chosen a finisher that didn't result in them landing on their tailbone and spine every night.

Just look at Minoru Suzuki up until, say, a couple of years ago. When he bumped, people popped.

I dunno how we are defining good wrestlers but George the Animal Steele hardly ever bumped especially in his late 80s run.
Ivan Putski and JYD are also guys I don't remember taking a lot of bumps.

I'd have to go back and watch more of his matches to look for it specifically, but Hacksaw Jim Duggan is one of the few guys from the 1980's still going. I saw him in 2012 or so and he certainly wasn't bumping at all by that point. Honky Tonky man probably didn't bump much either.
Although there are plenty of exceptions if you were a full-time wrestler for a longtime and can still have any kind of match past 60 you probably retired at some point or found a way around bumping a lot.

First guy that comes to mind is Bob Backlund but that could be due as much to the era he wrestled in as much as his style.

If Bret didn't get concussed, I think he could have wrestled 5-6 more years. For someone who worked a ton and worked long matches most nights, he had a very safe style that minimized bad bumps. As OSW helped point out, the dude would always tangle himself in the ropes instead of just hitting the mat. He was brilliant.

Abdullah the Butcher. Basically everything the man did was punching, kicking and stabbing, while delivering an occasional elbow drop, while only taking from his opponents, punches kicks and the occasional suplex or body slam.
Also giving people the occasional hepatitis.

if you do rolling bumps like in lucha you can last much longer than flat back bumps

I thought I remembered hearing on one of his podcasts that Austin hasn't really had any problems due to the Stunner. His problems pretty much came from the botched Owen piledriver.

Abdullah may have carved a ravine into his own head but he would never leave his feet if he could help it.

Rock wasn't a big bumper either. And that decision paid off for him too.

Aside from doing a jumping clothesline off the top rope, I'd say Kane's been pretty good in that regard.

Colt Cabana. His matches are mostly comedy spots and typically only bumps a small handful of times.

Baron Von Rashke used to boast to locker rooms that he hadn't bumped in years.

Plus, Austin was basically just sitting down, whereas Hogan was jumping and landing on his ass.

Jericho's lack of serious injuries is remarkable when you consider where and how long he's wrestled. Japan/ECW/Attitude Era and so on.

Jerry Lawler's up there, too, right? Lawler is who I came in to mention. Probably the most unsafe thing he did on a consistent basis was sit down for a Piledriver.
