Of course, after I collect all but like two over time this happens! Unfortunately the only Godzilla movie I don't have in my collection in any form isn't a Showa one (It's Godzilla vs Destroyah)... Someone stole my tape of it.
The only thing that annoys me about blu-rays is that so many of them don't work on computer because of codecs or whatever. Stinkin' blu-ray drive I have is so useless most of the time. I'm stuck using my ancient PS3 to play them.

That’s pretty cool. I have their Fantastic Planet Blu Ray and it’s absolutely beautiful. Criterion is quality stuff.

Should be an awesome investment. Criterion's original release of Godzilla was incredible, and I'm sure they'll give enough TLC to the more obscure films of this set as well.
The one criticism I've seen has been that these lack previously released American cuts of a few films, but it's not a huge concern to me. The packaging is amazing, and knowing how awesome the Zatoichi and Olympic Films sets were, I'm looking forward to how this turns out.
(Not sure if Barnes and Noble still does this, but you could pre-order the box set from their store kiosks with their 50% off discount. If not, it's definitely worth waiting to pick it up for around ~$115 when their Criterion sale comes back around Black Friday).

As a Criterion collector , some answers to questions:
1.It's likely blu-ray only. If they haven't listed DVD when it's announced, they won't be releasing one later.
2. Most comments on their pages seem to be begging for a UK release, since they miss a lot of the big sets. SO it's likely region specific as well.
3. It's released October 29th. Many people are referencing a Black Friday Barnes and Noble sale; that sale actually lasts all of November. You should be able to pick it up 50% from B&N a day or so after it's released.

VLC comes with pretty much every codec and I haven't found a dvd or blu ray yet that it wouldn't play. Odd question but is there a reason you don't have a blu ray player? They are fairly cheap now. You can get a decent one for 50 bucks.

You can get a decent one for 50 bucks. Yeah, VLC is what I use. But to get some stuff to work you have to do all these wonky installations (namely an AACS dynamic library because they don't decode properly for me), and I am so lazy. The fix, looking at it now, doesn't seem too hard so I might give it a go so I can watch "Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl" lol.
The only reason I still use the PS3 is cause I have it (And I am going to run that bastard into the ground! I am very cheap. Haha.), I'm low on plugs and don't feel like buying or using a switch, and its the only non-computer device I have that has the crunchy roll app, which I don't like to run off the computer for various reasons. Mostly I use my computer to play standard DVDs and the rare blu-ray that works, and then I split the display so it plays on the TV while I use the computer for various things.
Back on the topic of this set, the movie I am most interested in it is "Son of Godzilla" (Which I personally think is the most underrated Godzilla movie... Like yeah, Minya is poop... But the character work and pacing of the movie I feel is really good). I only own "Return of Godzilla", "Godzilla", and "Smog Monster" on Blu-ray... The rest are either on DVD or VHS so this still might be a good get considering criterion's normal quality. I really wish it had some of the side movies, like Varan which desperately needs a good release that isn't the butchered US version. Or the Mysterians, the DVD copy I have of that the print is kinda ugly.

For those who don't want to wait or chance the Black Friday deal, it's already on sale for 24% off. And Amazon has matched the deal.

Seem to recall Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, for one, being a pricy one to get copies of in the US.
Heck of a bundle. The '54 original is a standout, but I've got a lot of love for Astro-Monster, Destroy all Monsters and the Mechagodzilla duology in particular. Haven't seen Ebirah in a long long time either, remember that having a pretty fun final monster fight.
