Super Mario Brothers 3 -- the world 8 battle ship right before the pipe to level 8-1 if you're without a P wing it's impossible
the world 8 fortress is a giant pain in the ass, it still gives me trouble --- I usually use a cloud to bypass it

Oh, how did I forget about this game? Especially Gambit's first level: (Never made it to his second one.) To steal a line from Kris Zellner: 3,2,1: LJN everybody!

I couldn't even beat the first two bosses, and still remember "OH, MY SWORD!" to this day.

Kirby's Dreamland 3.
I'll leave a space so people can mock me for failing at a Kirby game lol.
In the final stage, there's a level where you have to outrun an avalanche. On the final leg of the stage, the autoscroll boots up to hyper levels and it's damn near impossible to beat.

The stage on the moon in Majora's Mask where you have to do it as Goron Link. f***. Me. Played and finished Majora for the first time ever last week. Legit thought I was going just not be able to do it at the final hurdle. Goron dungeon is twitchy as all hell. Finally got through it and then faced the god damn Zora mini-dungeon. Could not time the flop at all. Like, I get that everyone says the Fierce Deity's mask makes the boss too much of joke but the game just offsets the difficulty into the Goron and Zora mini-dungeons. I think the Zora mini dungeon is ridiculously easy. You just swim down a set of pipes. If you take a wrong turn, you start again. There’s no enemies, no time limit and you can’t die.

Any escort mission where the person you're supposed to protect insists on jumping in a fight when they have no weapons or skills whatsoever.

Apart from ones mentioned like Natalya and that water temple, some that come to mind include:
Gargoyle's Quest (as a kid) - The 2nd level. Those damned eyeballs. (Can beat it now). The whole of Ghoul's N Ghosts - my patience has a limit. Fighting Magaki in KOF XI. Dante's Inferno - Towards the end there is a gauntlet section and one of the challenges is to do a 100 hit combo with no breaks. (Took me F***in ages.)

They changed it for the 3DS- there is a time limit for each gate, more rooms and you'll automatically be sucked back to the start if you miss the very tightly timed belly-flop at each jump off.

Ah, I was talking about the N64 version. I’ve never played the 3DS version. In a way I’m glad they changed the Zora trial on the moon as it was so easy and offered no challenge whatsoever.

I can't get past the last level in Sonic Mania and it's driving me bonkers. Also, I'm stuck in the temple in Persona 5 and haven't touched it in months because I'm lost and I hate desert levels the way people hate water levels. You mean Titan Monarch? That's not as hard as expected, although the boss can take a while. For me, I guess the special stages in Sonic Advance 3. I could never finish them all. How I hate them. I barely finished advance 1s. And Sonic Heroes also. The illusionary room in Wind Waker. One of a handful of Zelda puzzles (barring the first two games) that required me to use a guide. World 8 Crown on 3D Land. Like....Even 3D world crown is easier. 3D Land is like a super expert mario maker level. I dislike it. NSMBU Star World - 2. Hardest level in the game, and trying to beat it 4 player multiplayer for our video playthrough was intense. I never want to do that again. That's all I can think of for now. Things like Carnival night zone act 2, I love, even with the barrel that took me a year to get past, till STC printed the solution.

Teenage mutant ninja turtles arcade game and Turtles in time... any stage where you're on the surfboards and have to jump kick every flying thing while you get shot by multiple foot soldiers from helicopters.

I would get very mad too. It became a running gag with my family. It even got to the point where when my controller broke because of an accident, I was putting my PS2 back in it's place and forgot the controller was on my bed and it fell, I could NEVER convince my parents that I didn't get angry and throw the controller.

Again, not a level but some of the Shrines and their trials in Breath of the Wild are the work of the Devil. The motion control ones are especially annoying but that trial where you have to follow the Korok kid through the Forest without him seeing you, Jesus Christ. You can hardly see anything because of the fog that’s everywhere, the stupid little korok arsehole switches between moving like a rocket and seemingly going at a negative speed and if you lose sight of him, you’re basically f***ed.

The whole of Ghoul's N Ghosts - my patience has a limit. That whole saga of games are a joke. Yeah there’s a certain psych out that comes when you lose your armor. You feel like death is inevitable. That game and series would be looked at pretty fondly if you either had a third hit or energy bar

That game and series would be looked at pretty fondly if you either had a third hit or energy bar The NES version would have also been helped by better weapons and the ability to not get screwed early (plus, a good spell check).
That whole saga of games are a joke. Over the years, I've beaten Ghost 'n' Goblins only once, and that was the C64 port with only half the levels. So yeah, those games are frustrating, to say the least. They were unnecessarily frustrating. I don't recommend them at all.
