Finally saw the Ziggler match and recently rewatched HBK/Hogan and never have two men been more able to put someone over while also openly trolling them at the same time with such grace and talent...

It feels like comparing two different situations with Dolph and Shawn and for as funny and slightly justified Michaels was...Dolph was selling in the intention of doing his job and making Goldberg look like a beast so that’s the best for me.

I don't see the connection. Ziggler takes a slight breeze like an Ali punch.

I honestly wouldn't consider what Ziggler did to be overselling. Goldberg's character has always been a raging bull who flattens people with power and intensity over finesse and Ziggler happened to be in the way of that bull. Shawn, on the other hand, was trying to make his match a joke.

Shawn, on the other hand, was trying to make his match a joke. I mean, point taken and accepted, but, he still did a full back flip with a handstand off one spear, and then a full rotation flip landing onto his feet with the second one. (Edit - third)
That said, nothing matched the moment where Shawn took the big boot and then took a bump, popped back up, ran around in circles like Homer Simpson and then did a front flip for literally no reason, prior to getting leg dropped.

HBK was literally falling down and getting back up just to keep flailing and flop back over... multiple times. The dude did a twisting flip after a common head-to-turnbuckle move. He sold a Big Boot by hitting the mat , getting back up and running in a circle... THEN jumping into the air flopping down on his side like he was shot by a gun.
HBK vs Hogan is the textbook answer on both the Right and Wrong way to oversell.
For the record, I loved it. Amazingly entertaining match even to watch now. Even with that said, some of it was way too far unless it's a comedy match.

Pretty sure Dolph stood up and fell down just like that as a tribute to HBK for the 3rd one!

Shawn may have been a prima donna, pilled out, cry baby at his absolute worst....but Hogan....Hogan, as a backstage politician and as a human being, is far far far FAR worse. I mean...I thought we decided this fairly unanimously some time ago....

I never really heard of Hogan trying to start a fight with a man with a broken leg, only to cower behind someone else when it seemed that the offer would be taken up. Although, my post was a joke anyhow.

Although, my post was a joke anyhow. For me, Hogan wins this one hands down. I can acknowledge how much of a piece of crap Shawn was back in the day and I find his actions repulsive. In those days, the only redeeming quality Shawn had, imo, was his talent between the ropes. However, even taking the racist comments out of the equation, I think Hogan is a worse person because of the John Graziano stuff. People may disagree and that is totally their prerogative, but I don't know how you can come back from blaming the kid that your kid left brain dead for being brain dead.

Ziggler sold it much, MUCH better. Over the top but still believable (they looked like convulsions) and without any of the annoying crapola that Shawn was doing with his.

shawn's was hilariously over the top to the point Hogan was getting pissed about it. IIRC shawn decided to do that because it was supposed to either have a rematch where shawn would get a win back or a best of three (I forget who would win the 3rd) then Hogan vetoed the idea and insisted one match only and he was going over (brother) so this was shawn's response to that.

Nothing will ever top what Shawn did. It's still one of all time favorite moments in wrestling for just how absurd it was.

Dolph was doing it to make Goldberg look like a dominant force, Shawn was doing it because he was mad that he got out-politiced...so, Dolph for me.
