They need to do something. We'll see if this works or not.
Although I'm cringing at "influencer."

In true gaming industry fashion, the only way to get one of these 10k tickets is to pay for lootboxes with a 3% chance of scoring a ticket.

Perhaps some day they'll have the radical idea of just showing extended gameplay of actual video games at E3.
A mad idea, I know.

What the f*** is a gaming influencer? Think of guys on Youtube who always post up content For example, guys who play NBA 2K every year who post up videos in having the best My Player on the court and always upload their shit. Then 2K Flies them out to show off new content for new games and give their impressions

I don't like any of these words, certainly not all of them strung together.

Hoping to rebrand as a “fan festival” has probably nothing to do with the fact you somehow let thousands and thousands of business emails leak out from people in the media covering the event, right?
Also one day we’re going to have to talk about how the press gets accused of bias and then on the flip side the same people who accuse said press then respect the words of influencers who are paid by companies to promote products. I’m not even saying it’s a bad thing and there aren’t people who don’t try and come out of it with credibility intact but...there are way more that don’t.

It could work as long as they do it right. Still have the conferences/briefings be the focus and main events of the show. Doing an industry-only day (run your big conferences then) followed by several general admission days I think would be the best course of action.

I would expect no less from these companies as they are today.
I remember wizards renamed their Pro Tour Events "Magic Fests"

I'm so over E3, it doesn't even seem needed at this point.

I think it's well past time E3 died. There's basically no purpose to it anymore.

Didn't it just used to be the video game industry's trade show? And didn't you used to be able to buy comic books at comic cons?

I think it's well past time E3 died. There's basically no purpose to it anymore. Yeah... with the internet and constant reporting you don't need like here's the part of the year we do big announcements.. then there's Nintendo who realized it was better to just have mini press things year round and not have to rent auditoriums to announce things... Didn't it just used to be the video game industry's trade show? And didn't you used to be able to buy comic books at comic cons? Yes and you still can.

Jim Sterling tears apart everything about this new E3 proposal and the ESA itself as Jim Sterling only can.
If you couldn't tell by the name of the video, there's a lot of cursing so language warning.

Yea, time to let this go
Companies are realizing it is better to hold their own mini event in the year than do this
