Hopefully not. I see no reason he should like everyone just because he is best friends with a face. We need more multifaceted heels.

Eventually.
I actually would like to think the heel turn on Cody doesn’t happen but is teased and somehow in 2-3 years it’s naturally built up some more, and ends up with Cody betraying MJF and giving him his first face run.

God I hope not, he should be the Ricky steamboat of heels in that no matter what he never turns face

I like the idea that a heel can have a friend who is a face- but not like any of the face's friends. like the little thing at the end when Matt goes to pat MJF on the shoulder to thank him for helping and MJF just swats it away and moves behind cody.

Eventually as I think he’ll be their first homegrown (no WWE/Japan background) star to break into the mainstream such as the guy who gets put on the talk shows and is known to non fans to an extent. Basically be for AEW what AJ briefly was and should have been more for TNA. Mr AEW is what Cody is grooming him to be both on screen and off.

I hope not. He’s way too entertaining as a heel. He’s going to be wasted otherwise. It will probably happen eventually but I could see him being turned back within a few months.

I don’t think they will. I can easily see MJF costing Cody the title at Full Gear.

He’s Ric Flair. He’s a heel, but fans love him. Not sure I would have had him run in last night with all the babyface fire, but he can cut one promo next week & get his heat back.

I thought the way they played it on Dynamite was great - he ran in to save Cody and be the big hero, but then he immediately started soaking in the crowd's cheers and bragging about it and that's what led to him being caught offguard in his own right. The whole thing read like he was saving Cody so people would think he was awesome for doing it, not because he actually cares.

I fear they’ll do that aswell but I think its way too soon only a month into having tv.Plus they haven’t really told the story yet if you only watch Dynamite that show close with them teasing turning on Cody comes completely out of nowhere. It’s a Being The Elite storyline but they need to realize BTE averages 150K to 300K views per episode but now their being viewed by over a million people on national TV.

I cannot buy the guy as a face at all...but the crowd seemed to eat it up. He does have charisma to spare, so maybe he can be a good face.

I think, at the very least, they'll hold off on face turn until AEW is his sole commitment. It would be really odd, though not wholly unprecedented, to have him played completely straight as a babyface, meanwhile he is in MLW still with the Dynasty threatening to close down children's hospitals in order to turn them into a resort casino.

MJF vs. Cody is a definite "in case of emergency, break glass" feud. When it explodes, it'll be huge. But it doesn't need to for a long, long time.
Even if MJF is a heel to literally everybody else, the second he finally turns on Cody, he'll become super-mega-ultra heel.

Honestly, I think they should have kept him out of the Cody beat down. It was kind of a weird situation to see him there.
If he turns face, it'll be way down the line when he's a seasoned veteran. He's got quite a few years of heeling ahead of him at the moment.

They kept him out of it last week, but he couldn't keep not showing up to too many more beatdowns without having to answer for it. If anything, they probably should have had the Inner Circle back off when he showed up, with Jericho manipulating the distrust everyone but Cody has for MJF, before MJF turns them down and proves his allegiance with Cody (at least for the moment).

Reminds me of when Sting & Luger teamed up in WCW in 1995-96 where Luger was a heel to everyone else, but stayed true to Sting.

I don't think MJF will, at least intentionally, cost Cody the title match. If MJF wants to ride Cody to the top, he can't cash in early. He needs to see it through.

Yeah, I see them teasing it somehow with MJF trying to help Cody but being ambushed on the ramp by Santana and Ortiz or something which either leads to the finish or puts a red herring on the turn being at Full Gear.
