With the second wave of figures, the original MOTU line started incorporating unique action/special features for each figure (though a few repeated here and there as time went on). Based strictly on the action feature itself (and not the overall figure itself, really), what were some of the best and worst the line offered?
Rokkon, Stonedar and the Meteorbs were knockoff Rock Lords, and that's a bad thing. But it wouldn't have been so bad if the transformations weren't so lazy. Bend over = Rock! is just lazy lazy lazy.
The quality of the Ram Man figure was severely lacking compared to the rest of the line, but holy crap it was fun to knock things down with that spring-loaded mechanism. It just never got old.
Leech was an awesome figure to look at but name one goddamned time you ever EVER got his suction cups to work properly?
Mosquitor's blood-pumping action was cool as hell.

Stinkor was a Mer-Man repaint whose "feature" was that he...smelled bad. Filmation writers and animators outright refused to ever write him into an episode.
Second Mosquitor and his cool blood MYSTERIOUS RED LIQUID chest-filling feature.
Speaking of repaints, Faker was a pretty lazy effort all around.

Didn't they infuse patchouli into the plastic or something odd like that? Moss Man had neat enough gimmick, but good luck having that feature if you had pets, because that would probably be covered in dog or cat hair in like a week.

I'd just sniff that sucker til the scent faded.

SyFy Wire has a great ranking of each figure. I have 46 out of 70 listed. 😁
But I remember thinking Rio Blast and Snout Spout looked cool, and I got them for Christmas one year.
The Dragstor guy with the wheel in his chest and ripcord has some weight to it. Like, it weighed a lot more than the other figures.

Saurod and Dragstor for me were the best. One could literally spit fire (sparks) the other turned into a dragster car as it barrelled into all the others, my dad's foot and all the way down the drive!! Fantastic.
Worst - Meckaneck or Mantenna all they do is extend there neck or eyestalks hardly exciting, plus they both looked dull. Wait what was Stratos action feature, did he even have one??

Stratos was from that first wave where all the figures pretty much had the same feature, a power punch. Where you twisted the waist and they snapped back. All the earlier figures were mainly distinguished from each other by head, armor, and accessories. And differences to arm and leg sculpts.

as a kid I really liked the chest plates/battle armour that would show damage, I think it had 3 stages to it, so clear, slightly damaged and then full on damaged, was this just for He-man and Skeletor?
also I remember having the stilt stalkers, they were shite! not really a action figure feature, but possibly the worst vehicle (if you can call them that)

I’m going off memory here as I was a fan as a very young child and not a collector but I remember having the horribly awkward looking “Two Bad” which if I recall could only punch one of its two heads with its alternate fist
And a guy with a robot neck that extended up an inch or so.
I also think I had a lion that could turn into an egg for some reason

Didn't they infuse patchouli into the plastic or something odd like that? Yep The toys still smell to this day. That's kind of impressive.

Mantenna was a missed opportunity. He had four legs, but they were fused together as the toy. Having four actual legs would have been a cool feature.

Stinkor is such a fascinating look some of the bizzare marketing of 80's/90's kids toys:
Let's make an asshole action figure. You mean like Ferris Bueller? No, like it smells like an asshole. BRILLIANT!
At what point in time does somebody step in and say "Um, pine scent is one thing you guys. There's a reason most plastic shit doesn't even smell like shit." This wasn't Garbage Pail Kids or Madballs where the whole point was to make something wacky and offensive. It was Masters of the Universe. A solid toy line where the gimmicks were things like stretchy necks, battle armor damage and walking muscleheads punching eachother.
Wonder how close we were to getting a Maximum Sweat line for HeMan

I liked Man-E-Faces and Tri-Clops's multiple face (or eyes in the latter case) gimmick. Always wanted Modulok as well. I thought Mekaneck was pretty cool too, I sometimes used him as a living computer, and I liked the battle armor and the club he came with. Liked the gimmicks for Sy-Clone (though I wonder why he had he-man's face), Fisto, and Jitsu as well. Worst? I could never get Kobra Khan to work right (I'd either pour too much or too little water into his neck), and Battle Bones snapped too easily.

I remember the Christmas when my step nan got me Sy-Clone, Roboto and Buzz-Off
Roboto was one of the coolest Masters figures ever in my opinion and I loved Sy-Clone's spinning action and the radar on his chest

My Mosquitor still has the blood in his chest. I figured it would have dried up by now. My parents bought me Stinkor when I was a kid but it smelled so bad my Mom made me keep it outside.

The King Hiss toy was...something. Bunch of snakes inside, but when you had the outer humanoid shell on his arms moved less than even other toys in the line from what I remember.
