"Never make fun of people who mispronounce words, it means they learned it by reading." When I was 5, my sister laughed at me because I thought the Archie character Reggie's name was pronounced with a hard g-sound (like "golf") and not a soft g-sound (like "George"). It didn't make sense to me, the way they said almost made it sound like it had a d-sound in it (Red-gie). This reminds me.
When I read the Sonic comics, because I hadn't really seen SatAM, I used to pronounce Antoine as "An-toyn".

I didn't learn until fairly recently that New Orleans is supposed to be pronounced as New Or-le-ans, rather than New Or-leens. No no, it's N'awlins. Nerlins.

I wonder how people would pronounce the capital of South Dakota, Pierre.
I'm guessing some would say "Pee-Air" But everyone here pronounces it as "Peer"

Until I was 19, I thought Reggae music was pronounced with a soft G. In fact, I called it Reggie music, after the Archie character.

My friend decided to name his daughter Aoife. He lives in Iowa. Kid's going to be called Ayy-wife til she either legally changes it or moves to Ireland. Irish names are the worst once you go abroad. My cousin named her daughter Sadhbh. In Irish 'dh' is silent an 'bh' makes a v sound, so that's pronounced 'Sy-v'. Girls never going to be able to leave the country and have anyone know how to say her name.

It annoys me when people pronounce Pokemon as Po-kee-mon when in the anime they clearly pronounced it as Po-kay-mon.

Vicar of Dibley has a hilarious bit about "Aoife" and Irish names (couldn't find the isolated clip, scene starts at about 33:00) It is a beautiful name, but it is just almost cruel to use outside of Ireland.

I know I’m only one of several million who used to pronounce ‘macabre’ exactly like it was spelled.

I was saying “content” (the feeling) like “content” (for example, a Youtube video) for ages.
I only realised a few months ago I should be saying them differently.

I know many thought it was "Vee-a-com" and not "Vye-a-com". I didn't even know how to say it until the 1990 logo's announcer.
Thought the ex Batman VA was Olan "Sool".

Until the first Harry Potter film came out when I was three books deep, I went with my mum's wrong pronunciation as "Her-meeny"
