Kevin mention it in video
But found it funny the show has a character called Kong, and it’s not the gorilla’s name.

Not even That Ghostbusters. No, it's THAT Ghostbusters' dads. Well, not all of them, Tracy the Gorilla is the same character in both. I love this dumb old show. Nice to see DefunctTV moving away from the PBS-ish stuff. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the damn theme of the show is.

These aren't the original Ghostbusters. Everybody knows the original Ghostbusters were Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis. Or at least that's what everybody on the internet was screaming at me when the 2016 movie came out.

Actually, the original Ghostbusters were Mickey, Donald, and Goofy.
One of their numerous jobs they had early on.

It makes one wonder what would have happened if the Filmation deal went through and they did in fact got to do the animated series based on the film.
It might have helped the company in the short term as the Ghost Busters property was a merchandise making machine much like HE-Man.

Stretch or not:
The joke in GB2 about the kids wanting He-Man instead of the Busters was a wink nudge reference to Filmation??

I always found it weird that they would make a He-Man reference in that movie, several years after the original show ended and the toyline had peaked. Ninja Turtles would have been much more timely for 1989.

Most of Filmation's comedy output was more slapstick-based. Not to mention they'd have to shoehorn in a moral in every episode (or at least tack on a moral lesson at the end). Also, doubt that they'd use Everett Peck's designs for the monsters as well.

Makes me wonder...with Filmation out of business, has any thought of either crossing the two Ghostbusters over for a one shot comic or making side references (like, again in a comic since that's where new stories come nowadays, a gorilla stealing a proton pack) come up?

There have been a handful of "blink and you'll miss 'em" cameo's by the Filmation Ghostbusters in a few of the IDW comics. This, from Ghostbusters: Get Real issue 2 is the most notable - Supposedly there was some inquiry made to see about them making an appearance in the Ghostbusters Crossing Over mini-series was possible, but IDW rejected it. Whether it was because they felt the rights issue were insurmountable or they just didn't think it was worth it is unknown.
