I hope everyone is able to make it back safely. I would imagine they're gonna get a LOT more "f*** that, I'm not going over there" if they continue doing these shows.

Was talking earlier with a guy I work with, who was watching Crown Jewel in the office yesterday and who didn't know about this development until I'd told him, and said he had seen several social media posts before he came to work about an apparent altercation between Vince and a Saudi official yesterday but didn't invest much in it before now. Possibly just newzzzz junkola, but it certainly fits in that realm of "it's not a weather or plane problem." If true (and that's a big if), Vince got on his jet and got out of there before shit hit the fan. Yeah, I just saw a recap of known events over at Scott Keith's blog and in there was "Vince was one of the first out of the country."

It's gonna be more than "I'm not gonna go there" when they return home. Now the talent knows that Vince will just leave them while their asses are sitting in Saudi. That's a new level. They were already risking themselves even heading over there and now this? On behalf of something Vince supposedly did? When they get home safely they need to change shit because nah, they've played with fire enough. f*** that.

I find it weird that nobody on WWE's side has tweeted something to put minds at rest.

Apparently a related rumor making the rounds is that a reason that the latest shareholder call had lower income than expected is that the Saudi government has been dragging their feet on actually paying them.

I have a feeling some guys are going to be outright demanding their release after this. You go to this dangerous country for your boss, he starts shit, LEAVES YOU THERE while he flies home on his private jet, now you aren't allowed to come home and probably are at least slightly worried you are going to be murdered. Vince McMahon did that to his wrestlers.
So yeah, right now, I'd say anyone stuck there has the clout to quit. WWE wouldn't f*** with their contracts, because the PR shitstorm would be immense.

Saw on reddit - "Tony Khan wakes up - "Why the f*** do I have 45 missed calls?" "Everyone's so hard on WWE for making their talent go to Saudi Arabia but no one mentions AEW sending their wrestlers to Jacksonville" At least it wasn't Cleveland...

Yikes, bad timing for a mechanical failure It has nothing to do with the plane Well we don't really know that it is all speculation. I read that it had something to due with problems with the fuel line but nothing concrete so far. Some people just like to jump the gun cause they read: wwe stars stuck in saudi cause their plane is not allowed to leave. Not allowed to leave could mean a lot of things. Such as the plane had a mechanical failure, famous wrestling promoter punched out the prince and took off like the devil leaving behind talent or that there is a stubborn couch in front of the tarmac. Only one of those sounds like a real page turner

I've not seen that fuel line thing anywhere but even if I were told that, in the roster's position I wouldn't believe it for a f***ing second, especially if Vince was rumored to have argued with someone before leaving.

Via Reddit, PWInsider reported (7 hrs ago) "The flight from Riyadh has been delayed for hours due to what sources indicate is a mechanical issue due to the fuel line of the plane, among other issues. WWE has been able to rush out certain talents on another plane, but have not been able to confirm which." It’s crazy to think that there’s another eight and half years left on this deal. They probably won’t go back until April or June going by their history of events so maybe they’ll smooth things over by then. I don’t see either side canceling the deal. There’s just too much money involved. Every time Saudi Arabia comes up people are calling for an end to the deal. I get this is a reason to justify that, even though we have no idea what’s going on over there, but these shows are making WWE a lot more money than Mania. I don’t see WWE giving that up.
I’m reserving judgment on Vince at the moment. He probably wanted to get out quickly to prepare for Smackdown and had no idea his crew would be detained after he left. Hopefully we get some real updates soon because all the speculation is just working people up.

Also this is obviously secondary to everything else, but after the disappointing ratings and the rumor they didn't get some of the stars they wanted on SmackDown, I'd imagine Fox will be rather pissed about this when they have to do a whole show without a lot of the big names.

Apparently a related rumor making the rounds is that a reason that the latest shareholder call had lower income than expected is that the Saudi government has been dragging their feet on actually paying them. If this is true then that makes this Saudi deal in addition to being morally bankrupt, terrible for PR, and potentially threatening to the lives of the talent... also financially dubious given that the one upside (the vast money involved) is now possibly being mitigated by the government's move. Imagine after last's year bull*** thinking that this is whole venture would somehow manage to get several steps worse 12 months later.

And they said that wrestling inc initially reported it. I would paste the link but my phone isnt reliable with stuff like that

PWInsider is very often pro-Vince, so I'd need other sources. Right now there's still nothing concrete out there, the radio silence is deafening.
