Meltzer's not the most sympathetic character in wrestling analysis, but he's near-encyclopedic in his knowledge, and he has connections inside WWE that allows him to be eerily accurate on many occasions. That's where his capital lies.
Wrestling fans have not always been the most "woke" or appropriate-acting group of people on the planet ourselves. Focusing on what Dave said and how he said it is on the same level as speculating what Smackdown tonight is going to look like. Both are attempts to keep our minds off the fact that some 40-odd pro wrestlers, contracted to perform for WWE, are stranded in Saudi Arabia for reasons unknown but not related to plane trouble or to concerns over the weather.

I just hope the same number of people that entered that place end up leaving that place.

Was talking earlier with a guy I work with, who was watching Crown Jewel in the office yesterday and who didn't know about this development until I'd told him, and said he had seen several social media posts before he came to work about an apparent altercation between Vince and a Saudi official yesterday but didn't invest much in it before now. Possibly just newzzzz junkola, but it certainly fits in that realm of "it's not a weather or plane problem."

It was completely inexcusable that WWE stayed in with this deal last year, but if they still do after this there should be an outright mutiny.
Note I fully expect them to stick with it.

Have there been any tweets from anyone still in saudi aside from bray? Andrade said he hopes he's back home before his birthday on Sunday and Murphy just said, "Never again."

To be honest nothing is going to happen to the talent. Vince is essentially the only living person I can recall being described as a friend of Trump. Considering how they both operate if there's something serious going on the white house is probably on the case. Ordinarily not very reassuring but Saudi Arabia desperately needs American support

People do realize WWE employs literally hundreds of wrestlers by this point correct? It should be the last thing on anybody's mind but there is nothing stopping them from putting on a great show tonight. They have dozens upon dozens of people to call on if needed. Brand split? If they bring over RAW talent they violate the storyline and further make brandsplits a joke. Because of all the times to stick to continuity, it's now...

Saw on reddit - "Tony Khan wakes up - "Why the f*** do I have 45 missed calls?"
"Everyone's so hard on WWE for making their talent go to Saudi Arabia but no one mentions AEW sending their wrestlers to Jacksonville"

If true (and that's a big if), Vince got on his jet and got out of there before shit hit the fan.

John Cena and Daniel Bryan looking kind of smart right now.
And anyone talking about Meltzer, when it's the McMahon greed that got these wrestlers into this situation, is extremely misguided. Stop whining about what a wrestling journalist said, and keep watching WWE which happily put the wrestlers into this position.
So let's say it is something serious. Do the McMahons cancel the Saudi Arabia contract, with all the financial issues they're going through as a company? Imagine it is something bad, and wrestlers are forced to go next time because "nothing really happened." Hate to speculate, and hope they will be ok. But the McMahons knew what kind of situation this was, and they didn't care.

Just saying, Florida to Buffalo isn't that long of a flight, get some NXT people to show up and get started on the build for Survivor Series. Dan Matha's time to shine! Does Dan Matha have an action figure yet? He looks so generic that he's the perfect template for custom figures without anyone knowing who it originally was. I think I'll order a who crate if them and make a 100% completely original roster.

Vince and co are absolutely at fault and that's the main thing people should be focusing on, AND Meltzer should probably know better than to make 'die by the sword' analogies in reference to a place that actually beheads people.
