After reading the reports of the increase in ratings for NXT due to the exposure of being on the main shows, here’s a question:
Would an actual full on invasion angle work for NXT? Have HHH try to take control over Vince, say the old man’s time is up (and his time is now), have a bunch of main roster guys switch allegiances to NXT, the whole deal. Have a guy like Roderick Strong win the Intercontinental title and see him bring it to NXT. Have the Viking Raiders join forces with NXT, cutting a promo about how they hated the new names they were forced with, that sort of thing. Make it the biggest angle in the company, crossing over three brands.
I know, invasion angle, bleh. More HHH, bleh.
But really, would this be the sort of thing that could help them beat AEW?

Not if Vince writes it.

Maybe it would be like the WCW invasion so in the winner takes all match we have Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar on team NXT.

I think the opposite: send down a top talent to NXT for star power.

Nothing works in WWE anymore, but invasion angles usually suck, especially if led by the self glorifying son in law.

I'd be worried about it being like "Hogan and Bischoff take over TNA with a big heel faction 10 months after taking over TNA."

To me for an invasion angle to work, it must successfully get over many, if not all, of the talent involved. A stable is put together to do such a thing. The problem is, the larger the stable, the more difficult it becomes for talent to get time to showcase themselves, while also trying to get the angle over. Seeing how piss-poor WWE have been getting talent over these last several years, combined with how bad of a track record they have in regards to invasion storylines, I cannot see this benefitting anyone.
Furthermore, NXT is meant to build talent up before moving up, and an invasion angle might expose talent's shortcomings and could hinder their progress. It is great that NXT got this exposure, but the brand should remain what it is, and not jobbing out to Raw and Smackdown.

It would end with Roman Reigns beating the Undisputed Era 3x1

I think it would work better if top guys felt threatened by NXT and went there to try and cut them off. In the end though NXT has to win for it to work.
