Yeah, Dr. Caligari and Birth of a Nation and a few others I can't remember for Film History in college.
I don't remember much about them, but I do know about The Wizard of Oz, Gone With the Wind, and the monster movies. Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman, Invisible Man, etc.

Are you guys telling me that Star Wars actually isn't a found footage film from a long lost space-faring civilization from a galaxy far, far away?
But for a serious answer: watched Birth of a Nation in a college class. That's probably it for me.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
The oldest film I've seen that I was able to get into as much as any other movie was Fritz Lang's Metropolis.

For me it has to be "Gone With The Wind" and "To Kill A Mockingbird".

Thomas Edison's 1910 film version of Frankenstein. That is mine. For years I had heard the film was lost. Then once it was discovered I got a copy to watch.

Was going to say this as well, then I checked into the date and the Marx Brothers' "Animal Crackers" is earlier (1930). I may have seen "Cocoanuts" (1929) well but not 100% sure.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. The oldest film I've seen that I was able to get into as much as any other movie was Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Metropolis is very accessible. That's my go to recommendation if someone is interested in silent movies. That or Buster Keaton/Charlie Chaplin for comedies Thief of Baghdad for adventure, with Douglas Fairbanks
