When Undertaker was stretchered out at Wrestlemania 9. We heard the chants of "HOGAN" directed at Gonzalez. Instead of Hogan ruining Wrestlemania 9 and King of the Ring 1993 and Summerslam 1993, why not pair him off with another Giant he could take out?
Then we could have Yokozuna vs. Bret Hart with Bret retaining. Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect for the WWF title at King of the Ring and Bret Hart vs. Hogan or even Savage with Bret going over either guy to cement him as the top guy.
Hogan and Gonzalez go back and forth over the summer with Hogan finally beating Giant at Summerslam.
This means we get no fake Made in the USA Luger, Bret is still champion and Undertaker can actually have a clean win at Mania 9 then what actually happened.

I think they teased this on some house shows at the time but nothing came of it with Hogan leaving pretty quickly. I can't imagine these matches would have been good on any level.

I like it, except for how it makes the Undertaker look like he needed Hogan to avenge him. Here's my tweak to the plan: In December, announce that Beefcake is returning to the ring at the Rumble, and still make a big deal about his face injury and how fragile he might be. Then have Gonzalez show up, attack Beefcake and do something awful to his face. Now Hogan is back and out for justice. (And you hope this is enough to satisfy him and he doesn't just demand Bret's belt anyway.) I can't imagine these matches would have been good on any level. Hogan at least would sell the bejeezus out of Gonzalez's clubbing and choking and make him look like a real monster. Undertaker was a terrible first opponent for Gonzalez with the fall down/lie there/sit up routine.

Taker tended to have horrendous matches with big men, so naturally they spent most of his early WWF run putting him up against them because they couldn't break the Hulk Hogan formula.

Most of the big men he faced where terrible wrestlers. Hogan vs. Gonzalez would been a nightmare. Thing is the idea they wanted The Yeti in WCW be played by Gonzalez.

IMO Giant Gonzalez had no business being anywhere near a wrestling ring.

the Great Muta near his peak couldn’t get much out of Gigante, not sure what anyone would expect post-Hulkamania/pre-Hollywood Hogan to be able to do.

Hogan had far more programs with giants that Muta did, though. He knew how to sell for them and work around their limitations. It wouldn't be a great match but I'd wager it would at least be a more entertaining spectacle than anything Muta or Taker did with Gonzales.

For some reason, the most striking thing to me in that picture is seeing Hulk Hogan in the same space as the Smokin Guns. Hogan was so out of place in the 1993 WWF.

That costume was so freakin' weird and awesome. When I searched pre-'97 wrestling stuff from internet first time like ever, he was the first wrestler I had to find about information like crazy.

What's striking for me is how Hogan's physique looks so small here. I know he was off the steroids and had lost some mass, but it's really noticeable here.

I just think that it was too hokey of a shtick in '93. Hogan was known as a giant-slayer, so they kept throwing bigger giants at him, and it got so tired, that they had to trick their audience into buying it, yet again, at WM9. The sooner Hulk left the better, because no one wanted to buy it in '91,'92,'93,'94,'95. You can only do one act in any artistic-medium for no more than a decade, before it becomes stale as Hulk Hogan.

I'd be fine with the costume if he had some furry trunks over or something, rather than the pubes look they decided on.

There must’ve been something on paper seeing he was in Thunder In Paradise and they did that stare down after KOTR I always heard a rumor that had Andre’s health wasn’t declining Vince wanted him to come in and mentor Giant Gonzales
