"I don't understand people airing issues. If you have one talk to us. If you put that out there in the media that's not a way to go about business. If I had a complaint with a talent I don't go on Twitter and complain to them, I speak to them. I've never understood that process if it's legit." "There's a silliness to it, a maturity issue of it's not how you handle business. Anybody that is out there that is serious about their release that's talking on the internet, using their phones, you handle your business like a professional." "We're in professional wrestling and the keyword there is professional. That's what we are trying to change about the business and make people more - professional." "There are a lot of people out there that are just getting clicks. Throwing a headline on something and trying to break the internet. I see guys do it all the time. It is what it is. There are a lot of talent where there's a moment in time, things happen and people get frustrated and they say some stuff that they regret." www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2019/11/triple-h-addresses-unhappy-wwe-talent-going-public-with-662485/

He kind of make it sound like guys are going to social media before going to the boss with their release request, and while I’m sure that had to have happened before I’d say that most people go to HHH/Vince/whoever first and then when they’re denied or nothing comes of it then they post about it to try to force the WWE’s hand. All of that said, yeah, you shouldn’t be airing your dirty laundry like that.

Corporations always do this. Their answer to it usually is "Well, we'll look into it and get back to you." And then they never do, instead hoping that the issue is eventually dropped or the person with a grievance moves on and gets out of their hair.
Truth be told, if Moxley, Spears, all of these talent had gone to management with their concerns, if AEW wasn't a thing, if NJPW hadn't gotten as big as they had, they would have gotten the same song n dance and been told "we have big plans for you, just wait" only to either get strung along for years or given their release eventually. Just because they did it "the right way" by not going on Twitter and airing their grievances, it wouldn't have made any difference.
"Keeping it in the house" is just a way to keep people silent, nothing more.

There's a lot of evidence of talking to management not leading anywhere. Listening to Mox's shoot interviews, it's clear the man tried to go through proper channels to voice his frustrations and all of it was ignored. So, I can understand talent going public when handling it internally doesn't work and you're incredibly frustrated with your job. WWE is signing people as independent contractors, meaning they have little to no rights and can be discarded easily but in turn, the talents are locked in contracts for years in a toxic, unhappy environment without getting to leave if they choose to. WWE has all the power and they love to hold that over people's heads so I have a hard time judging someone for trying to make their life better/happier.

Really this whole thing just comes off as completely full of shit to me. Obviously he's not going to say anything to validate it, and given his position in the company I'm sure he's just as guilty as anybody of this thing of basically keeping people hostage that's WWE's current policy.

He's right, and a lot of these disgruntled wrestlers got themselves into trouble by signing long deals when they really shouldn't have. They aren't going to push you. They don't even know how to properly push stars let alone lower card guys.

Also, I think it's pretty unprofessional to say a racial slur while drunk on social media but I don't see Triple H addressing that elephant in the room.

Yeah he's right with this. That line about him not complaining to talent on Twitter was so true. Like, if he did that you know he'd get backlash from people saying it's "not professional." Even if talent have issues, keep that shit behind the scenes like you do your contract details.

It's bad press for the company, of course he's going to say they shouldn't do it. But at the same time, the idea that nobody's going to management and that twitter is their first stop is a laughable one, the benefit of him saying this in a media call where nobody can answer back. It's weird to think wrestlers are en masse taking their never-before-mentioned frustrations to twitter and not talking to anyone about it first.

While he's not wrong overall, there also are plenty of people who are going to look at it through the lens of power dynamics/disparity, and really won't be very sympathetic to that.

Although I can appreciate HHH's business sense in this regard, I also understand that drama sells. In this performance-based, athletic-drama where social-media has become the new norm for most things, like storyline advancement or contract-negotiations, these "independent contractors" are using all the tools they have to make sure they are paid appropriately according to their value.
If I was independently contracted, you better believe I am going to figure out what my value is, and build hype around my brand to get the best possible deal. Pro-athletes have been doing this for decades. HHH may think it's one big "family," but it's also a business where contracts are negotiated daily. This should not be news to him, as he was not born in the WWE.

I get where he is coming from but at the end of the day, unless you are a top guy they treat most of their roster like crap and work them into the ground. If you are a dude like Harper who is really good and knows he could be a big deal elsewhere, it’s gotta be so frustrating.

He’s right, to an extent. If your initial action is to take your grievances to social media, that’s in professional. But if your issues repeatedly fall on deaf ears, you may feel your only recourse is to take them public. His argument puts the entire onus on the employee. It’s a two way street.
