The debut was awful. Excalibur didn't help. For people crapping on JR I was in the same boat as him. I do like that Allie went evil, and I really like that it's an unexpected twist in the Brandi/Allie storyline. Brandi is a voodoo priestess thing now and can summon Kong whenever she wants, so instead of being all "good girl" about it, Allie was like "f*** it I'll bring in people of my own". Allie went evil to counter Brandi being evil. It's refreshing. Just DO NOT let her go "Dark Allie" that shit was cringeworthy and exposed her inability to show range. She tried to look menacing and just looked constipated most of the time. The debut was shit, but with the Dark Order proving all of us wrong, I'll wait til they get a promo/vignette package. Y'know...something they should've had to begin with. Dark Allie sucked because Impact gave her a generic heel moveset and also she was booked weak instead of being a psycho/monster. Hopefully AEW lets Allie wrestle without making her boring, her being a psycho works imo.

Right, I'll caveat this with a note that I've loved most everything that AEW have produced so far, and they get a huge amount of slack seeing as they've achieved an incredible amount for a company so soon in its infancy...
But this was f***ing awful. Embarrassing.
First off, debuting by climbing through the mat in 2019 is lame as shit.
Then we get Excalibur somehow knowing these guys' names, including the fact that Allie now wears leather, masks and calls herself the Bunny. No 'reveal', no shock, just, hey, this is these guys now.
Ross: "Who is this guy?" Excalibur: "The Blade."
And that was it. No more information, no more questions. Like, for f***s sake, c'mon. Unless I've missed a bunch of vignettes?
The problem isn't with this team per se, I still have faith they can make steady improvement in their presentation (like with the new Dark Order vignettes), but moments like this just feel to me like LOLTNA or the worst days of old ECW.
Shock value for shock value's sake and it's not compelling IMHO.

Lol I only remember him due to his name and he wasn't very good back in tna.... Which one is the butcher and the blade. I assume the meaner monacle wearing one is the butcher.

I think what Brian Zane said was also best. Not only did the announcers not help you debuted a tag team that is pretty much exclusive to the northeast in the midwest

I liked the fact that they debuted from coming out the ring and attacked Cody. The visual looked cool and it got a good reaction. A shame the move got messed up but that happens. It was just awful timing that it happened then.
I will agree the commentary could have been better. Even Excaliber saying "They've been a tag team across the independent scene and...wait, what's Allie doing with them?!" could have put over the fact that this change was unexpected.
I also don't need them to explain it right there and then. You could very easily have them debut in a match the week after with a promo where Allie could say "Niceness got me nowhere, Awesome Kong reminded me of that so now I got my heavies to come and attack"
They do need to work on how their debuts but it wasn't quite as "throw a bunch of stuff with no context or explanation" like The Dark Order was at the time.

Feels like Allie is trying to be Pieter, without dressing as scandalous.

I like AEW, but they really do need to work on having better explanations for debuting wrestlers and showing their motivations as to who they are and why they're that way. The course correction with Dark Order shows that they're capable of doing that.

Count me as another person who didn't like the way they debuted, but love the way they look (especially Butcher, total Teddy Roosevelt bruiser-lookin fella).
Having them arrive and take out another tag team would've made more sense than Cody on his lonesome. The loosest connection of a justification behind the attack is Allie/Brandi for the attack by Kong, but then that makes this trip babyfaces...and they attacked Cody, one of the biggest faces of the company...
...yeah, I don't know. They look good, and the quick checks on their match history tells me they'll hang fine, but this was probably the worst first impression they could've gotten.

I didn't like how they came out one at a time and then we're supposed to know they are a unit. I mean have butcher and blade BOTH jump cody at once so immediately you think "hey these guys are together" and then do the reveal for allie being the mastermind since she's the one people are going to recognize most of all of them. I didn't even realize it was sutter until I read about it here.
instead we got "hey some guy is attacking cody, he's the blade. ok. oh wait now another guys is coming out to...beat up cody too. I guess that's the butcher, I guess they're together. ok. wait why is allie evil now?" though Excalibur's matter of fact approach like "how you could not know these guys?" like it was Austin and the rock that came out from under the ring was kinda funny.

I just pictured Tony Schiavone getting really excited that Paul Reiser & Greg Evigan are coming to AEW to only get real bummed out that she meant Braxton & his grandpa.Tony Schiavone My Two Dads Enthusiast is money. Then Stacy Keanan comes out of nowhere and just straight up murders Kong in the ring I just like the idea of each week Tony taking a dastardly heel aside like that prick MJF having a heart to heart directly stolen from the sitcom.MJF sees the error of his ways, they hug, canned audience “awww’s”,credits roll, hearts are touched and a nation is galvanized. The next week MJF calls Tony’s mom a whore.

Hopefully AEW lets Allie wrestle without making her boring, her being a psycho works imo. For me it wasn't about how she was booked or how she wrestled it was her portrayal and facial expressions. How she "sold" being Dark Allie I guess. I mean say what you want about Su Yung, but she gets presentation to a tee. Plus also aligning with Rosemary who also understands how to portray her Demon Assassin character. Allie tried to look dark and sinister, but she would snarl and make silly faces and I couldn't take any of it seriously. It was like watching bad theatre acting but the person is the daughter of the producer of the play and no one will say anything about it. I think this incarnation will suit her better. At least I hope. Allie is a good promo for the most part, and I hope this plays to her strengths without making her look silly.

It was different, I'm not sure if it was good though. They should have let the Bunny explain why as JR does a crap job at explaining anything these days and it wouldn't have dragged the show to a screeching halt.
I will give them this though, they look like they're doing to add something different to a roster packed with high fliers and prettyboys. They look like something dragged out of the 1960s NWA, hopefully they're decent enough in the ring.

Excalibur's commentary f***ed the debut for me. Unknown dudes with a cool look beating the f*** outta Cody I can dig, even if I enjoy the who are ya chant, a legit surprise debut is cool. But him yelling names over and over is just like "how do you know? Why do you expect JR and us to know? These guys are new!"
And holy crap ETID's guitarist is a wrestler and has the coolest f***ing wrestling look I've seen in YEARS. Like just on his visuals I'm sold, hell I'd be sold on a singles push. I could so see these guys as Scurll's new Villain Club.

I liked the actual debut, it was just the commentary that ruined it for me. Excalibur needed to act as surprised as JR and not know who they were or give us an explanation on how he knows them rather than just be "The Blade!" "Who?" "The Blade!!!"

These guys should be in the Dark Order. Uno gave them the courage to wear surplus biker attire, hide under a ring and shock the wrestling world

Yeah, this is on Excalibur.
If you know who these guys are, when Jim Ross asks "who is it?", don't just condescendingly respond " the Blade." Tell us some specifics, you dork.
