THE FINEST THING IN LIFE.
It's NOAH's 20th anniversary, and Doug was a part of its golden age. Great to see him back from semi-retirement, dude's one of the most underappreciated talents of the early 00s indy scene (hell, he's in the first ever ROH title match) since he hit it big before Japanese wrestling was as accessible here and before the rebirth of the BritWres scene.

After this show, I want the father/son pairing with Williams and Travis Banks.

Honestly, I'm surprised that a company like AEW hasn't reached out to Doug, not only can he still go in the ring, but he could be a great backstage hand to help them lay out matches and such, if Doug was in his prime now, him vs. Pete Dunne would be a banger!

I haven't followed him in a while but he was one of my favorites during the glory days of ROH, glad to see he can still go.

F*** Michael Elgin.
That said, I adore Doug Williams and could watch him all day.

He was on the Wrestling Daft podcast literally just last week, and they straight up asked him if he would come out of retirement, and if there was any match or promotion that could tempt him back into the ring (specifically mentioning NWA Power if I recall correctly) and he said No. Not for in ring action anymore, but only to do producing and behind the scenes stuff. Doug you sneaky bastard! I'm glad though, always loved Doug Williams.

Doug Williams is at our (CATCH Pro-Wrestling) debut show in Manchester. Hell of a guy!

Yeah, and they've been on an upswing. Indeed, they just had the biggest selling non-NJPW card in Japan this year, and have some of their guys showing up in Impact and MLW. Really hope they work out getting an accessible platform for international fans sooner than later.

They obviously had a rough go for a while when Misawa died, Kobashi retired, and Morishima had... whatever the f*** breakdown happened to him, but they've come a long way. NJPW's still obviously the biggie, but it does make me happy to see the other major Japanese promotions seemingly in a good place.
