...and by that I mean an asshole masquerading as one.
I work as a bartender and last weekend I had a couple come in and eat. He ordered a 6 Oz steak rare. Now unless you’re going to a high end steakhouse and spending $50-$60 or more on your meat, most places use steak weights when cooking to speed up the process.
This guys steak comes out and he looks at it and refuses to believe it’s a 6oz steak. 6 Oz is the precook weight. It’s that way for all meat. It loses weight when cooked...more so if you like it well done. This clown goes to his car and gets a damn scale that he uses to measure food for his diet and weighs it and raises hell that we’re trying to rip people off. It’s the exact weight it should be when it’s cooked. We weighed a bunch of sirloins in the kitchen...all 6 oz. His wife brags that he’s a mathematical genius and he knew the second he saw it that it wasn’t a 6 Oz steak. 🙄
Because apparently that’s what math geniuses do these days. Their brains are so big that they can weigh things looking at it.
Then I dropped their check off and we have a tip calculator on the bottom. It’s there for people’s convenience. They crossed it out and wrote a 10% tip on it and then sat there joking back and forth about his amazing math skills and random tip percentages they were leaving like 9.76%. Just shut the hell up and leave already. Go try and impress someone else with your fake math skills.
And this is why I don’t still want to be doing this past 40...

I can’t be the only one who saw the thread title and thought you met Scott Steiner, right?

He brought out a scale. Lol omg. The entire staff and all of the bar regulars almost died. My boss was so pissed at this guy lol. He refused to concede that he was wrong about the weight but he cooked him a new steak anyways to shut him up.

I can’t be the only one who saw the thread title and thought you met Scott Steiner, right? That would be one of my top 5 stories ever. Right up there with almost running over a secret service agent with a golf cart.

This sounds like an asshole that has a hidden camera and posts these "hilarious pranks" on youtube for a couple dozen views.

He's fallen on hard times since his WWE days, poor fella needs every single ounce of steak he pays for just to avoid hunger and to stay in wrestling shape.

people who f*** with service staff seriously need to be thrown in maximum security prison Times like that make me miss one of our old managers, Allison. I had a table where the wife was just being a raging bitch from the second she walked in the door. She treated me like shit and bitched about everything. She doubled down when her entree came. Allison came out, said don’t worry about the check...we can’t apparently make you happy so please leave and don’t come back. Customers are always right my ass.

Yeah, whoever came up with, "The customer is always right," needs a good swift punch in the kidneys.

Yeah, whoever came up with, "The customer is always right," needs a good swift punch in the kidneys. I like to pretend that the Original Proto-Karen first said this. I always thought the "spirit" of The Customer is Always Right is to adjust to the overall trends of the customers. Like if 3/4's of your customers say your fries are too salty, perhaps you should consider not salting your fries as much. If you sell 10 cokes for every pepsi, order more coke than pepsi for your warehouse. Unfortunately the line has morphed all to often into a license to be an asshole.

I could've sworn this was a joke on The Drew Carey Show once, where he had a scale to prove a Quarter Pounder didn't actually weigh a quarter pound.

Being mean to people who cook the food you are about to eat seems like the worst idea possible.

I could've sworn this was a joke on The Drew Carey Show once, where he had a scale to prove a Quarter Pounder didn't actually weigh a quarter pound. I immediately thought of that joke. Someone visiting Drew's house (who was a cop) found the small scale and asked "what is this for? Cocaine or something?"
