Just rewatched this match thats 24 years old. And what a match a real 5 star classic that's pretty forgotten. It's in front of a Philadelphia crowd during ECW's heyday and you can see the crowd really getting into it and loving it when Bret gets some juice. While both Vince and Lawler actually play up the fact that Davey beat Bret at Summerslam. That's unusual even by today's standards, as they don't normally like to reference previous matches for guys. See Triple H and Taker and there WM17 match that was wiped from history before there 27 and 28 matches. Anyway it's a great back and forth with some really brutal looking moves for the WWF in 1995. Bret being crotched on the Ropes has Lawler going woh outloud and again when Bulldog gets crotched on the ring fence, Brets follow up clothes line looks equally as brutal. I loved Davey doing his Powerslam on the outside than in the ring, its great stuff. Even the finish catches the crowd by surprise with Bret using a cradle maneuver (that Chris Jerhico taught him ) instead of using the Sharpshooter. All in all a great 5 star classic. If I had any complaints, it's that Cornette was kind of pointless and just not needed for this match. So what are other poster thoughts on this match ?

I liked this match, much like their Summerslam match, but this one added more drama by making Bulldog and Dianne(sp?) heels. The blood spot was intense, as was Bulldog bouncing off his head.
Not as emotionally investing as the Summerslam encounter, and that's why I prefer that more, but it was still Bret vs. a healthy Bulldog in his prime, and it is as good as you would imagine.

When this match was replayed on an episode of Raw in December 1995, they advertised viewer description which had to be on of the first times they did that. (TV Guide not surprisingly didn’t mention viewer description in their TV listings when they advertised this episode since wrestling was so unpopular back than. Of course, this was before the days of Parental TV Ratings like TV-PG.)

It's an absolute classic, but if we're discussing if it's better than the Wembly match, well - it's 10:26 AM here and far too early to tackle a question like that so I'm going to hold off from voting at the moment.

I guess both were what they were. I should be biased towards the 1995 edition as I was there.

I prefer In Your House. A traditional face/heel match, awesome brutality with great bumps and Bret's selling. And JR would have said, Bret bleeding like a stuck pig really adds to it.

I think the In Your House match is the better match.
Wembley is such a huge spectacle though and the pop at the end when Bulldog wins is still to this day incredible to watch.
I voted 95 as better than 92 but I can see why others would prefer Summerslam 1992.

Both were great matches but I do prefer the IYH match.

Leaning Wembley for atmosphere.

On the one hand, IYH has Bulldog actually being on and the pace is better, I think. On the other, the atmosphere, drama and crowd are something else for the SummerSLam match.
Difficult, both matches are absolute bangers in their own right.

Great match and often overlooked, but Wembley is still the better of the two for me.

I’m biased as I was at Wembley for the match but SummerSlam beats it. Of course, that’s not saying the IYH match isn’t excellent because it is but the first is just that bit better.
