I am guessing Chase stays. He's got a good gig in NJPW, and I think there's a chance he gets more of a push. Hell, I feel like there's a non-zero chance he might even get into G1 this year if he delivers this year. It's definitely far from something I'd bet money on at this point in time, but between Fale aging, Moxley maybe not wanting to risk the wear, and if someone's hurt, it'd at least be something different and gets Bullet Club still having representation if they're down Fale from the G1. Chase in the g1 would be a travesty. He's at best decent and has one of the worst looks in all of wrestling. With all the talent at NJPW's disposal, Chase getting in would be horrendous. Don't get me wrong, he wouldn't be my first choice by any stretch, but I'd rather see him in than watch Fale break down more and more in front of us. Beyond that, it'd just be interesting to see if he'd rise to the occasion and perform at a higher level if given the opportunity. Besides, let's be real, it's not like Yoshi-Hashi had any business in G1, but that's happened before, has it not? I am glad when people at least get an opportunity. A lot of people didn't want Lance Archer in, and then he ended up carrying a lot of A Block. Chase is definitely no Lance, but still, he may surprise us yet.

Imagine being told last year that Okada would team with Ambrose in 2020. You'd probably think that Okada was the one who jumped ship.

He’d been good in previous g1s, got in phenomenal shape and offered something unique. Chase is a melted manatee of the man, with no charisma and no upside. Would like to see a bit of an overhaul of the g1 roster though. Fale has no place in there and want to see more people get their g1 debut (cough Henare cough). But Owens would by Yujiro in the g1 bad. I do hope I’m wrong, but it would take a lot for me to think it was an even slightly exciting proposition.

Good tag match. Moxley’s eye gimmick getting exposed and in general was massively distracting though.

EVIL has to deliver here for me. He hasn’t felt important since 2017 and risks slipping into a midcard role and watching Shingo climb the card in his place. Ishii is th best opponent for him to have a war and to start getting some momentum.

Good match, but not great. No idea what they’re going to do with EVIL. Drastically needs a refresh. Ishii is still the man. Match was hurt by muted crowd reactions for a lot of it.

Holy shit, great main event,
A little surprised by the result. I think Shingo could do great things with that belt. Feel for Goto though, he was fantastic and really deserves to get more than he’s given.

Future teases...
When Sho started commentary I wondered if that meant Shingo was winning. I want that match again so much,, gonna have to watch it again soon.
I’ve fantasy booked a whole story in my head leading to Shingo vs Sho at WK. So excited for this feud

LIJ is without question the most powerful faction in New Japan now. They hold the gold and the money that comes with it

Love Shingo winning especially because it makes Goto look even more like a big loser.

You know rewatching Shingo/Sho (so glad to have a day off) it strikes me that this match was barely mentioned in the best of lists. It’s so bloody good, and really underlines the depth of in ring quality at the moment.

Is Shingo the 1st guy to hold both NEVER titles at the same time? Also has any faction every had 2 double champions at the same time?

They gonna do anything with Henare, he's been in the "beat Young Lions but loses to everyone else" role for three years

Yeah, Chase was never going anywhere. Guy had his best year with the company in 2019. He knows his spot too, and everyone seems to love having him around.
I've only seen Ospreay/ZSJ in last year's G1, which was a very good match. I have a feeling they'll put on a great one for the British Heavyweight belt.
That Mox/Okada vs. SZKG tag was surprising good. I came into it thinking Taichi would get DQ'd again, so having Suzuki pin Mox was a fun shocker.
On the other hand, I was disappointed with EVIL/Ishii. I usually never say this, but they could've cut 5-7 minutes off that match. It felt slower and overall less "smash-mouth" than they needed to go. Also don't see the point of Ishii going over EVIL again. Unless they are putting Ishii as Shingo's first challenger and/or EVIL is about to have a breakdown of some kind.
The main event was exactly what I wanted. They delivered yet again, though I'd rank this below their G1 bout and above their match from Destruction. This is a moment in time for the NEVER belt. Shingo can talk people into the building, and basically put on great matches with anybody. They can use him similar to how they used Shibata - taking on challengers from the juniors and heavys while giving some stability to a belt that sorely needs it. Give the guy Ishii, SHO, Ospreay, Taichi and whomever else all the way to WK next year.

Love Shingo winning especially because it makes Goto look even more like a big loser.I'm really starting to despise that false logic at this point Goto hasn't had that label in years and it has stuck due to how he was booked early
