What is something you've always heard about wrestling that turned out to be just a "A friend of a friend told me" kind of thing.
Mine was one my best friend and I believed for years, that Stone Cold and Goldberg were half brothers.

My grandfather was convinced that there were multiple different Kanes. Even as a kid I knew that wasn't true.
To this day I get a good kick out of how matter-of-factly he would state that.

I heard that King Kong Bundy pinned Hulk Hogan, but he demanded a 5-count. Hogan kicked out at 4.

In the same vain as the OP, the Ultimate Warrior died and was replaced in 1992. Also, the second Ultimate Warrior was Shawn Michaels.
Macho Man was persona non grata in WWF because he had his way with an underaged Stephanie McMahon

Green and black DX Kane suit.
Although early on in watching, thanks to Michael Cole's overexcitedness I thought The Brood consisted of 3 people: Gangrel, The Acolyte (1 person), and Christian Edge (1 person).

Remember that list of wrestling urban legends that went around back in the day? The one with all the batshit insane stuff like Stone Cold *ahem* recieving intercourse from Stephanie McMahon to keep his spot as a big star? I wonder where that list originated...

I heard that King Kong Bundy pinned Hulk Hogan, but he demanded a 5-count. Hogan kicked out at 4. I'd be stunned to know that this never happened. Well I had a friend in middle school who was full of them (or "it", as it were). Said somehow, only he got these exclusive pay per views...the one I always remember him describing had Tito Santana and ? vs. Zeus and Andre, and Tito SLAMS AND PINS Andre to win. Of course, he claimed to see toplessness on the LPWA which was seen late night on the MSG Network. EDIT: Aside from telling us the story about Brutus and Hulk being brothers, there was this kid who appeared at Meadowlands shows dressed as The Barber. He said this was his cousin.

I remember in like 1998 my cousin came to me and told me swearing up and down that it was true that Paul Orndorff died from steroid abuse sometime in the late 80's. I just looked at him and said Orndorff was on Nitro two weeks ago.
In my own personal experience, I believed the stories that Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake were genuine biological brothers way longer than I really had any right to.

I also believed that while Undertaker and Kane weren't real brothers. That Marc Callaway and Glenn Jacobs were Cousins.

I have one that I am still positive I saw as a kid. Ultimate Warrior was wrestling some local guy, Warrior then went under the ring and shook it. I've never been able to find video of this, but I am 100% convinced I saw it when I was like 4 or 5.

I vividly remember my cousin explaining the 2 Warriors thing to me in my grandparents basement around the time of Survivor Series 1992. It right after they announced that he was off the show, but before we found out Perfect was his replacement.

I've said this one before but getting into an argument with my adult neighbours when I was about 10-ish because they said there had been multiple Undertakers. It wasn't so much that they were wrong, it was there reasoning that A) he couldn't be the same guy because the original was there when their son was watching in the early nineties (this was only 97/98 so only 6 or 7 years after his debut) and B) that this one had way more tattoos than in the early nineties.
I was told to go to bed when I called them idiots for not getting that people could get more tattoos in the space of 6 years.

That list started off as "The wrestling sleaze" thread at DVDVR. At first it was just the posters posting the various stories they had heard. And then it morphed into a bunch of people making stuff up to see how far they could push things before the mods stepped in. That is why you got the stories about say Hacksaw Duggan owning a combo blender/sex toy and other stuff. When I met Jimmy Valiant for the first time years ago someone asked him about his entry on the list Boogie got loud "BROTHER I AM TIRED OF THE HALF TRUTHS AND LIES ABOUT ME ON THE INTERNET.....IT was the Midnights that walked in not the Rock N Rolls" then he laughed.
