What was talked about yesterday is that in basketball it is still so young that some of the greatest of all time are still alive and you rarely have tragedies to the all time greats especially not at this young age. This is basketball first really big mourning of a legend

I really hope it was a freak accident and not something that could have been prevented. That makes it a million times worse

Missing that one part of the puzzle.

Yea at that point when they did it, Pistol Pete was the youngest guy missing considering I think he is one of the youngest players ever in the Hall of Fame Kobe will def be a big name that is missing this time. Losing Stern and Kobe is some big names the NBA has lost over the last few weeks

f***ing time and place, lady. Like, ok...Kobe has a huge blemish on his record. But his wife, kids, parents, and friends are tearing the walls apart right now. You wanna talk about his life good and bad, you f***ing do it later. Some f***ing people. Unbelievable.

Yeah if you want to shine the light on his full life, that's perfectly fine but it is inappropriate to do that mere hours after he died along with his daughter and others It is sad because in a sense of trying to tell the "full story" you are trying to put more shine on yourself as opposed to letting things settle. I don't think anyone would want their worst moment to be something someone gravitates tho right after they just died

Some f***ing people man they just don't get that no one is ignoring THAT blemish on his life it will always be there but this is about celebrating the positives and how how grew and changed as a person since that time and his legacy.

Yea that is sort of one I thought of (I wasn't alive then) since being a Yankee fan they always drive him how crazy that moment was with him dying in that crash as an active player

Yea, I think that is the key thing. You don't have to drive home that blemish in his life, people know it is there but he also had a lot of positives that shouldn't be glanced over either. He did a lot in life in only 41 years and people are celebrating that because his legacy reaches world wide

I haven't been this shook about a celebrity death since Aaliyah. She was selling records, making movies, gorgeous, talented, and only, what...21 or 22 years old? And also in a tragic air disaster.
This is like 9/11 for me. I'm watching tv. I hear what they're saying. But I just don't believe what I'm seeing.

I said it earlier that this death gave me the same feeling when Aaliyah died because I believe other captain said it this is one of those..."WHERE WERE YOU" when it happened moments in life. because when Aaliyah died I was in a defjam chatroom f***in around with a whole buncha cool people about 400 or so in at the time and I remember seeing the message of Aaliyah RIP....naw it was a joke...then it came again and again and again and then everyone was like it is real turn to MTV because I believe they were the first to break the news of her death.....and to that point I never seen something affect so many people that quick. Like I was likely so into my shit at the time but I do not even remember 2pac or Biggies deaths really hitting me as hard and this was at the height of rap and hip hop.

I saw it on Yahoo!'s front page. I loved her music. MJ and Fawcett died on my first day at a new job, so that was memorable. I was in my early teens for Pac and Biggie, but I remember it. I even remember MTV when Cobain died. Tracy McGrady is a wreck on ESPN. 😥
