Ziggler pulled it off for a while. Until that Miz feud I don’t think anyone openly acknowledged he was in the Spirit Squad.

But do they treat him as a guy that just started in the wrestling world in NXT as an assistant?Havent kept up with NXT besides the big matches and angles No, he's an "agent" nothing about Robbie E is mentioned And in some ways that's a good thing.

No, he's an "agent" nothing about Robbie E is mentioned I mean, it makes sense but I'd mark if there was a moment where he came into work one day with spiked hair and a bit more of a tan and Chelsea wondering what happened. “Zack, you shaved your beard”

I am sure that no one would believe that Becky and Braun, and a couple of Rosebuds in the picture below were supposed to be the same people.

I don't think it's dead. Tensai springs to mind. ...that was eight years ago.

Tucker Knight behind Becky?

That might be Dama Brooke between Becky & Carmella too.
I don't think the Rosebuds count though as they weren't proper in-ring competitors, more akin to Sheamus & Cesaro filling in as police officers or Attorney Ciampa.

I think yes to both, not positive.
I must say, I do like that Gotch has an old timey swimsuit, it is pretty consistent with his gimmick.

Well it’s kind of hard to pull off in this day and age.
I’m still happier than I should be for figuring out Repo Man was Smash.

One that I don’t think has been mentioned (probably because they were so utterly forgettable) is Primo and Epico to Los Matadores Fernando and Diego, and back to Primo and Epico.

I think the worst example was Albert to Lord Tensai? That was always hinted at as the same guy, maybe they even outright said so. They did. In his debut match, Cole said that he was a former WWE superstar that travel to Japan after leaving WWE and rediscovered himself. They never explicitly said "Albert" or "A-Train" on TV, but they're canonically the same character.

K-Kwik and R-Truth is another one that never gets acknowledged The fact that his name is R-Truth is because it's like K-Kwik and Ron The Truth Killings combined. I figured they were making it obvious that it was the same guy. WWE never mentioned that TJP was Suicide in TNA but Impact has acknowledged it since he came back. Also, a couple of Lucha Underground examples: They never acknowledge that Jeff Cobb was Matanzo Cuerto, and the never mention that Isiah Swerve Scott was Killshot.

I'm pretty sure it happened because everyone got smart to the whole thing.
Honestly, I've never liked wrestlers playing different characters in the same company, because it treats you like an idiot.

Just to touch on something regarding Bray Wyatt, he used to have a completely different backstory back when he was in NXT that didn't acknowledge Husky Harris. He had a much less supernatural gimmick originally - he had an abusive father who made him work on a shrimping boat and wouldn't let him read, but he learned anyway, and when he was 16 his father's shrimping boat burned and his father was killed (here he played with a lighter, implying he set the fire). Bray was ambiguously Christian back then, though he never outright admitted it - he talked about 'the Good Book' but never actually said he was talking about the Bible, and mentioned 'a certain Carpenter' who he never actually said was Jesus.
Then of course he debuts on Raw and gets Husky Harris chants, and when some fan asks him about it on Twitter, he responds 'He needed me and I needed a vessel'. That's when all the supernatural stuff started and the religious stuff was phased out.
Really, Bray Wyatt might've inadvertently killed the unacknowledged character change.
