There are people that still don't think there is a problem with industry attitudes to women's wrestling and this company literally sent a man to do a woman's job. I would almost find it acceptable if he had been absolutely MURDERED by the women's roster, but I wasn't watching, that shit happen? I thought it was funny. I mean it was a callback to a terrible idea they had years ago and I really really loved the Phoenix/Santino pairing back in the day. Santino didn't even touch any of the women, got no offense and got scared out of the ring. It's not a big deal in the slightest imo.

I loved seeing Santina back. Honestly it is 2020 if Santina identifies as woman then she's a woman.

I always assumed R-Truth would be the first ever Male to enter a Womens Rumble.

To be honest i never really thought Santina was funny anyway. If they had played it up as a callback to bygone era and had Beth completely destroy Santina before throwing them out then at least that way there would have been some redemption there. As it stands it was a just nothing spot that wasn't funny and didn't really accomplish anything.
Hell they could have had Truth enter because Nia stole his spot last year and had him get quickly eliminated and it probably would have been funnier.

It was harmless. I'm all for a callback and we need humor in the Rumble. Santino trying to one up Beth Phoenix makes sense and it was just a ridiculous nostagia spot that was just to give everyone a WTF reaction and it worked.

I don't get why Santina had to cobra herself to get eliminated and all he got were daggers pointed at him from Beth and Natties' eyes. He's being an ass, so kick his

Lets not get ahead of ourselves here... it wasn't transphobic. That's a massive stretch.
It was a call back to how far the women's division has come.
"Oh not this shit again... you're right. We are better than this now."
That was the message I think.
A man dressing up as a woman, even for comedy purposes isn't transphobic. That would imply every drag queen ever was transphobic.

It legitimately annoyed me.
For a myriad of reasons. Once the self-elimination came, I just rolled my eyes so far back in my head I was cosplaying as the Undertaker.

If something is wildly out of touch and out of date 10 years ago, bringing it back in 2020 while you're trying to present yourself as this progressive led organization for women really does not make the "continuity logic" of it matter. Also, they put in Santina over Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Sasha, etc which is absurd. I know why people are gonna be frothing at the mouth angry but it was a silly 35 second spot, that featured zero bumps, zero making fun of men or women, and a few call backs to the past. It was a completely innocent spot in a Rumble. Nothing more. Exactly. Geesh. I don't even like Santino, but it was nothing.

What always fascinates me is when people say “It’s nothing” when there are people who are actually trans in this thread saying it bothers them.
Like, I’m not saying they reflect all trans people or that other trans people can’t be not bothered by it but it just find it...weird, that’s all.

I mean, even at BEST, it's stupid and eats up a spot that could have been used for someone else (*cough*Io Shirai*cough*).
But then you add Beth Phoenix having to keep bleeding out of the back of her head for the sake of this, and WWE's general track record regarding anything adjacent to social issues...
...and on top of that, the gimmick wasn't even funny the first time around.

It would have been funnier if he just came out as Santino during the mens Rumble and did the same spot but with Brock and Strowman in the ring.

Yeah, I'm a big Santino mark but never found the Santina stuff all that funny to begin with. Just give me regular Santino, would have been better than Lesnar doing a bad Lesnar thing.

WWE: We’re all about the Women’s Evolution, so here’s an outdated crossdresser gimmick from the Divas Era! Just a friendly reminder that the 1st Wrestlemania womens' battle royal was won by a man, and that the 1st MITB womens' match was also won by a man. I believe if you look back far enough, you'll see that Moolah won her 1st womens' title because Freddie Blassie cut a check in the ring and gave it to the ref, by which the title belt materialized out of atoms around Moolah's waist, and also that Vince actually gave birth to Stephanie.

I legitimately have no idea how anybody can watch 2020 WWE and think the show is written on any level of symbolism let alone one of "We'll use this to symbolize how much better we are at writing women now". This was about making Vince laugh. Also no, a cis man dressing up as a woman to enter women's sports is not drag and is nothing like drag. The whole joke of Santina the entire time was "Santina is actually a guy in a dress ha ha it's funny".

The thing that upset me the most was that it was at number 29. I still think it's silly, but understand they were trying to have a bit of fun. Do the comedy spot in the middle of the Rumble, not towards the end when everyone is expecting potential winners to come out.
