God I love this show. Series Five started tonight with “The Referee’s a Wanker” and was another instant classic. A big shock half-way through the episode and the traditional final twist delivered in spades.
Anyone else a fan of this programme?

Yes I love the anthology format of this show.
It can be funny as hell, dark, and sometimes really touching.

The 12 Days of Christine episode absolutely did me in. You obviously know there’s going to be a twist coming but I don’t think anyone expected that much emotion from two guys more known for writing about exploding animals and murderous, incestuous lunatics.

Yes, and there is the episode about the old comedy duo getting back together after a long time (Bernie Clifton’s Dressing Room) .. that really tugged at my emotions.

It can be hit and miss at times, but more often than not it’s an absolute belter. The 12 Days of Christine was incredible, as was the ‘A Quiet Night In’ and the one set in a call centre. It’s such an original show, with each episode working on its own merits. If the rest of the series is as good as this one, we’re in for a treat.

Ok, that was all kinds of f***ed up tonight. Totally different to the first episode but that’s the point. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}If you liked Psychoville, you’ll get a whole lot more out of this episode.

The reveal at the end of that, so sad and beautiful.

I’ve just watched it; at first I wasn’t sure about the cameos as I’ve always liked the fact that their series are all stand alone. However, I was soon converted and enjoyed the whole thing. Superman, woooaaahhhh....

And they’ve been cryptically giving away hints. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}If you take the first letter of Steve Pemberton’s last eleven tweets (before the show last night) they spell P S Y C H O V I L L E

Came in thinking this thread was about the disaster that was Mighty No. 9. Moving along.

Episode 5. Thinking Out Loud. No spoilers but WHAT. AN. EPISODE.
It was up there in terms of ‘The 12 Days of Christine’ in terms of plot, acting and sucker punches. Just amazing.

I've not got round to watching all of series 5 yet, apart from "the referee...." but I love this show, loved Psychoville as well, but Inside is a whole different kettle of emotions. personally love Tom and Jerry and To Have and to Hold they were great episodes. and Bernie Cliftons Dressing room had me in tears as well.

Well, I didn’t see that ending coming. And of course, now I think about it, they did their usual trick of making you realise they were screaming the twist at you the entire episode.. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}“Too long in the tooth” “Can I come in”? The fact that he couldn’t stand the smell of garlic in the food. And the episode is called STAKEout. Unfortunately that was the last in the series. Fortunately the BBC renewed it today for two more series!

Resurrecting this thread as Series 6 started last night.
I liked the episode and there were some nice lines (“stop Fleabagging!”) and that bit with all the place names being puns was so childish and fun. Admittedly it’s a knee-jerk reaction as I only just watched if but my first instinct was one of a good episode but not one that’ll immediately spring to mind when asked for my favourites.

Funny timing the series 6 started causing you to resurrect this thread because I saw the thread when it first started and looked up the show, thought it sounded cool so thought “I’ll get round to that when I get the time” and started watching it last night So far I’m half way through series 3. Just watched The Riddle of the Sphinx and yeah, really enjoying it is all I can say. Really good stuff
