What in tarnation is going on here?
They have a horrible launch, now they aren't even announcing any new games on the horizon apparently.
One of the biggest companies in the world are acting like they're Tiger Electronics or something.

I don't think anyone is surprised considering Google's history of dropping products.

They hype something up but if it's not successful right out of the gate they quickly forget about it.

yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they're in the early stages of flat-out burying it.

Well if it wasn't dead before, Nvidia nailed the coffin shut with GeForce Now.
Also, don't make fun of Google Glass. I want to realize my dream of watching Ashens on my glasses.

It's happening as expected albeit a lil quicker than I thought. Still, I expected this.

Really I never took the thing at all seriously because as presented there was basically no way for it to be a hit. It offers no advantages over the alternatives whatsoever.

Agreed, why should I as a consumer pay full price to stream AC:Odyssey when I can purchase the game for cheaper now at retail or the psn store for cheaper and have a copy of the game available to me without the problems that can occur with streaming?

Yeah, I mean, if you have any other form of gaming, you're set pretty well and would never need Stadia. PS4 has Remote Play on Android and iOS, both platforms supporting controllers as well. Xbox One can stream to Windows 10 PCs on the same network; slightly more restricted, but still feasible. Switch is, well, a Switch. Even on PC, there's Moonlight and now GeForce Now is out of beta. The only scenario where you'd need a dedicated library of games is if you actively don't want any other platform.

Stadia wants to be the cheap alternative to the next gen console and PC games, same quality at a fraction of the cost, remember how expensive these things can be, only the infrastructure isn't there in their largest market.
It reminds me of the Kinect, decent tech and idea, but the problem is outside if north America, living and bedrooms aren't large enough for the thing to work.

Kinect also frequently had the problem of having difficulty seeing people with dark skin, which added to the list of reasons it came across as half-baked, along with yeah, the lack of space.

The moment the Stadia boss said that not only would games be the same price as everywhere else, but that he didn't even know why games on the service would be cheaper, that basically confirmed the whole project was dead in the water.

But here's the thing...none of that is inherently true with Stadia. They CLAIM they want to be a cheap alternative, but the reality is their library is constantly MORE expensive to purchase, the quality is an upscaled mess, and the support is still limited to Google-exclusive devices even months after they were touting how you could use any device and controller to use it. That, combined with the multitude of products abandoned by Google, I've basically resigned to the fact that nothing outside of the Android OS and the Google search engine itself will be worth their time or investment to maintain. Everything else rarely ever makes it 18 months before it's shuttered.

RIP Stadia, very soon I'd imagine.

So if you bought a Stadia game, and they stop the platform, you have nothing, correct?
That's why physical media will never go away.
