So says Fightful, citing Meltzer in the Observer. He would absolutely make sense, and fit that "big athletic dudes" mandate AEW seems to have been operating under lately when looking for new signees, but there's no word that Cobb has signed anything yet so he might be content to be a full free agent awhile longer, remains to be seen. That said, it's interesting to read that a big reason Cobb signed a deal with ROH last year was due to Chris Daniels' influence (along with the ROH/NJPW connection), and Daniels is, of course, now in Jacksonville, and this reported contract would give him the freedom to work in Japan, though I have to figure not NJPW-US? Stay tuned, I suppose: AEW obviously likes what Cobb brings to the table, but Cobb still has his eye on Japan.

I know it's a meme to say, "Big if true", but, well, big if true.
That'd be pretty awesome, because he's looked great so far. I am curious if this will help or hurt his stock in New Japan if he does go through with it. May make him less available to them, but it also would further increase his profile, so the time that he *is* available to them would be worth more.

The beauty of AEW is their freedom to work with other companies while still being under contract. They only have weekly shows and PPVs, no house shows, which allows for a lot of loose dates to be picked up on the Indies
Cobb fits their structure, and I think it's well worth getting him if they can because he is such a beast

Cobb has entered the New Japan Cup, facing Makabe in round one on March 4th. If he wins that, he gets either Ishii or Henare in round two, and I'm 100% down for either match.

AEW would be fools not to offer him something. He's fantastic. Guess it'd be a similar deal to what Mox and Jericho have where both can work New Japan and AEW.

I was very impressed with Cobb. He would be a great addition.

I don't want to sound like a butt as I think Cobb's a great talent, but the both nights I saw him in AEW he looked pretty much a jabronie to me. First coming out to do one move after the whole beatdown and then losing to Moxley as challenger #7 before Jericho. Who keeps his hair down like that without swipin' it away from his forehead anyway?

My advice to Cobb:

I don't know, if he doesn't want to be tied down yet, that's on him. I don't even think they need to sign people like him. Have them for a brief run, and then bring in another hot guy. It's very territory and allows for both people to stay fresh and for fans to see something new. It also allows for people to not get buried because there's only so much TV time every week and on the PPV.
You have spots. With possibly Archer, Brodie Lee coming in, Wardlow and Hager maybe starting to work, when does Cobb work fulltime? Like would it be so bad if you don't see him again until May? I don't think so. Let him do ROH, NWA, or whatever else he wants to do in wrestling when he is not in NJPW. Obviously ROH has the money to give him and need him a lot more then AEW does, so I can imagine he could leverage that to a bigger payday. This sets a precedent and shows that making a spot in AEW helps your paycheck.
As long as they don't sign with WWE, the black hole of wrestling, then working in a lot of places may work very well for someone like Cobb.
