As a kid it always did strike me as weird seeing a balding dude like Hogan run roughshod over everyone with NWO as their lead heavyweight. I get he's "Hulk Hogan" but shit, he just didn't look near as dope as the others in the group. Like this pic. or this one It always looked like someone's much older brother trying to be the leader while the cooler younger brothers just let him because he's old. Shit was like Dr. Wily holding the world title lol. How dare you besmirch the name of Dr. Wily! He built Zero & Bass!

When the Billionaire Ted skits aired. Man, those guys were ancient huh? Perhaps this is the wrong section to talk about old guys in positions of prominence. Curious thing that. In 2006 Hulk Hogan defeated a young Randy Orton at Summerslam...

Meanwhile, at that year's WrestleMania, Jake "40 Years Old!!!" Roberts, Roddy Piper, and the Ultimate Warrior all won their matches. Pot, meet kettle? To be fair, Warrior (born 1959) was younger than WWE Champion Bret Hart (born 1957) on the night of Wrestlemania 12, and was a good 5-6 years younger than Hogan and Savage. I think because his prominence was Golden Era, and brief at that, he gets banded with the older generation even though he was the same age as the New Generation stars. Overall, agree with the hypocrisy of McMahon.

Hogan always looked old, even in his prime, mainly due to his thinning hair. The only time he looked somewhat young was his really early stuff from the 70s.

Shit was like Dr. Wily holding the world title lol. That is always how Hogan's character felt to me in the NWO. The guy in his mid-life crisis, trying to be cool and holding onto his top spot in professional wrestling by cheating and using others. Which is why I think the Fingerpoke of Doom was so damaging. Nash was bigger and younger, but while under Hogan never went for the belt when he could have probably beat him. It should have been the end of the NWO, at least under Hogan, where he is overthrown and then humbled. I know Nash had his ego too and at the time I hated how strong he booked himself, but looking back it made sense and he was over. Then after beating Hogan you could always have Goldberg come back and take the belt off of him in a rematch.

"Haha it's funny because Hulk Hogan is old & useless. He's so old we'd never bring him back. And if we did we certainly wouldn't put him in the semi-main at Wrestlemania in front of 60K+. And if by some chance that did happen & he got a massive response we certainly wouldn't put the world title on him to pop a rating. Because he's way to old.."
