I actually think it’s brilliant. Like he was blatantly using Strongs family to get Strong to escalate it to the the point that a cage match made sense to Undisputed. He knows that Undisputed will get involved and when the moment is right he gets his hands on what he really wanted. Adam Cole. It’s genius! He also got one over on Cole. Beat him down and humilated him in national TV. Cole's ego isn't going to stand for that. He'll demand a match with Dream just to get revenge. Dream doesn't even have to do anything anymore.

And that is the best and most brilliant part...Dream is known for his mind games but not so much being a tactician that can plot out think an entire group but this gave his overall character a new bit of depth and layer in that Dream will always be Dream but now he is that more dangerous if he can out think and out maneuver an entire faction on his own...an entire faction that has out maneuvered and been steps ahead of just about everyone else.....and he did it all knowing exactly the next step like you said he wont have to do a damn thing because he knows exactly how Cole is going to respond.

I just don't understand why if he wants his hands on Adam Cole he didn't just... Go after Adam Cole. Why count on yourself to be able to stand tall in a four-on-one fight? It makes a bit more sense if you take as him wanting revenge on Strong for borderline attempted murder, but also willing to use his grudge with Strong to worm his way into picking a fight with Cole. As contrived as the plot was, they made it a point to have Strong look on helpless in the Tree of Woe as Dream pummeled Cole and posed with the NXT title. In a way, it's almost the most embarrassing thing that could happen to Roddy here, as Dream went ahead and involved his family into the grudge, only for him to reveal that aspect of the rivalry was an absolute facade, and that Roderick's family was merely the one weak point in the Undisputed ERA that he could exploit. Dream didn't even care about winning the match, because all he needed was the moral victory to get what he wanted. And again, I pointed this out in the last thread where everyone was questioning the heel/face lines of this rivalry. Undisputed ERA has crossed family lines in rivalries before, as Adam Cole showed up to the Gargano family restaurant to intimidate Johnny Gargano's mom and dad. They've just met someone who is also willing to cross that line of decency.

The idea of Dream being one step ahead of the Era makes for an interesting angle where you have a wily babyface using his mind games to embarrass the guys who’ve been running wild on NXT.
